Some Details about the trip
The trip started out pretty good I bought a gel pad at a truck stop which was nice and comfortable. The longest day I rode was the last day on the way back from Amarillo TX to NOLA it was about 900 miles. I was camping the whole way and I made the mistake of buying a cheap tent. the second night I camped in north Texas I got stuck in a monsoon in the middle of the night and the tent imploded and I layed there soaking wet and cold for about 4 hours. Eventually I loaded the bike with my wet luggage and left the tent for dead and got a hotel at 5:00 in the morning to sleep for a few hours and dry my clothes. When I went to get a good tent the next day I missed the exit and did a little off roading and hit my oil filter (the stupid K&N one with the wrench protruding under the frame rails and I knew I would hit it eventually) I brought tools and even levers but no oil filter. I JB welded it and put some mobile 1 car oil in it until I could get a filter. Got a Mazda filter that worked but leaked a little bit and put some amsoil in it. The race was amazing and I got to sit on a street triple. On the way back I got stuck in a freak marble sized hail storm with 40 mile hr cross winds in new Mexico and it hurt as you can imagine. But besides that I loved everything about it and will probably do it again next year. Pics
