I went to the Koontenay Raid last weekend. I spent a total of eight days on the road. The basic route was Salt Lake to Boise on the freeway (no decent backroads between them), then I headed north through McCall, Lewiston, Sandpoint and on up to BC. On the way home I looped through Montana to Yellowstone, and back through Star valley Wyoming and Cache valley Utah.

Beautiful ride and pics.

I did Northern Utah during the 4th of July week. Loved riding Logan Canyon, Bear Lake, and Southern Idaho, relatively mellow traffic and great vistas.

I like that area--Cache valley up to Bear Lake and southern Idaho. There are some really nice roads and not much traffic, once you get away from Bear Lake itself.
