Hi, all!

We're preparing for our (usually) annual stonk down Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway, with an important lineup change:

Hubby's BMW burned an exhaust valve, and it won't be repaired by our departure date, so.... he's taking the 1995 Triumph Trophy that he sold to his brother. That makes this the second Triumph-only trip down the BRP.

I can't wait. :-D

Yeah! Departure day draws near. We're pretty much ready to go; just getting the tool kit sorted, and the last of the packing done.

There's rain in the forecast, but the Triumphs don't seem to care about that.

Have great and safe trip!

I found the campgrounds on the BRP empty during the week in June...

The lodge on top of the SkyLine Drive is a great spot to blow some cash.

Waynesboro has a good groc store and a nice little park down the street where you can catch lunch out of the sun in this funtion area with picnic tables..

Are you getting as far south as the Dragon?

Since you skipped a year on the BRP, be aware that they no longer sell gas at Doughton park if you had that planned as a fuel stop. Waited until I got there North-bound last year and they had pulled the tanks out of the ground! Barely made it to Roaring Gap. Still get a decent meal, though. Fill up at Boone or Roaring Gap according to which direction. Good restaurant about half way to Boone on the left. Great lunch.

Yeah, they've been systematically removing gas pumps from everywhere on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Doughton Park was about the last one left. I figured that would be gone.

That's okay, it give us an opportunity to check out some of the terrifying roads leading down off the parkway...Route 43 down into Buchanan comes to mind, as does State Route 80 down into Marion. The Dragon has nothing on some of those roads!

We're not going as far as the Dragon this time, we've done it enough to know what it's like, and it's fairly out of the way. We'll be searching for new adventures.

I'll post a trip report when we get back. Tonight, Connecticut. Tomorrow night, Hershey, PA.

Mmmmm, chocolate. :-D
