Arkansas. A couple of friends (Buell & Suzuki) were able to get out yesterday for a sunny 300 mile ride. Our route was east out of Fayetteville to hwy16. From there, we picked up 23S and the infamous Pig Trail. Further on, we caught 64 into Russellville for lunch. In Russellville, we hit 7N which leads to Jasper,Ar...who some call the "center of the universe". We stopped to photo from the Cliff House restaurant. A beautiful view of the Arkansas Grand Canyon. After Jasper, we caught 74 running along the Buffalo river (caught gravel patches a few times...carefull). Finally, we ended back on 16 leading back into Fayetteville. The weather was beautiful (appx 65 degrees & sunny). It was a nice route filled with tight twisties (74/23), awesome sweepers (7N) and a view of small communties at least 4 decades "behind the times". On 16 returning home, my friend was ticketed for 72 in a 55. An old burn-out type guy stopped and tod us the cops have really been cracking down on bikes riding 16. I believe it. I had a painfull get-off only a month ago on 16 via a very overzealous forest ranger who got very amped to ticket me for 70 in a 55...to the tune of nearly running me off the road himself. Anyway, it's really beautiful and I encourage anyone looking for an MC destination to check it out.
