This was a trip a good friend and I did a year ago. Ely is not a destination spot, but it is a nice place nonetheless. The following pics are from the rail road museum. It was an active train station up until 1980 or there abouts. Then, everything was shut down and left alone. A few years back, local residents decided to bring it back to life. There are working steam and diesel engines. You can ride or learn to drive, if you have the funds. The place is wide-open. You wander around at will. There was only one building I couldn't walk into - it was full of old Pullmans. Sigh. I spent maybe 4 hours there. It wasn't near long enough. Enjoy!
