I'm thinking of taking a few days and doing the credit card travel thing the week before Vintage Days. I was thinking of taking off from Beavercreek, OH (near Dayton) and taking all country roads. The areas I want to go to would include

Iron Pony in Columbus

Mt Vernon (Moto-Guzzi Dealer)

Salineville (Guzzi dealer) I know...! Not British, but I really want to check them out. Supposedly the guy that owns Eish Enterprises is a old time Guzzi guy with tons of knowledge and bike parts.

Amish country

The trip would end up on Friday at Mid-Ohio for Vintage Days. Any ideas of great roads around these areas or other must sees? Thanks,
Pete Peel

Pete, the area east of Columbus is my stomping grounds and I have ridden interesting 2 lanes west of there. NOTHING north of I-70 and west of Newark/Mt. Vernon is too inspiring since it is so flat, but some of the roads are better than others. And if you head due east and slightly south and come round to Columbus that way there is a lot of good riding too. A straight line from Beavercreek to Columbus, like OH 22 would be really boring. I will come up with some suggestions tomorrow and post them.

Pete, I've looked over a lot of ways to go but there are too many variables: how many days, where are you staying around Mid-Ohio, etc. I have a LOT of suggestions and options but need to know your plans a bit more, particularly how many days you plan to ride before you get to Vintage Days.

Please email me at mecscc@localnet.com and give me a phone # and I will call you and we can discuss options.

One thing: The only Salineville I know of is a town of less that 2000 between Carrolton and E. Liverpool. I've been through there and you can miss it if you blink! And there are NO big towns near it. Are you sure that there is a Guzzi dealer there?

Mid Ohio Cycles in Mt. Vernon, very close to Mid Ohio Raceway, has a good selection of Guzzis and is a good, honest dealer. If you do get as far east as Salineville then I have literally dozens of great roads to recommend to you!!!

Yeah. We've been like two ships passing in the night. Most evenings I am home and even if I am out early in the evening I stay up til 1 AM, nightowl that I am. So if you want to try me after 9 and before midnight I am 95% of the time at home. Trouble is that when I am on the internet the phone line is tied up, here in dinosaurville. Will be home much of the day tomorrow, and evening after 9, and have the big East Ohio ride on Saturday. If I haven't connected with you by Sunday evening I'll try you at home then.

Keep trying. One way or the other we will connect.

Well, my brother-in-law backed out on me so now the trip is going to be solo. I'm kind've looking forward to it.

I need a small local hotel/motel recommendation in Amish country around Wayne or Holmes county OH. Any ideas?
