LETS CONTINUE THIS THREAD ON THE RIDES/EVENTS FORUM. IT WAS MOVED HERE BY MISTAKE. THE LIST IS BEING DEVELOPED AND UPDATED OVER THERE.......

They kicked the thread off of Twin Talk and so I lost the list of guys that had indicated interest there. If you did indicate an interest there, please post your name here and email me mecscc@localnet.com so I can keep track of who is planning to go! Thanks much!!

Here is what we are planning:

I can't do it on a Sunday, obviously, except for a short afternoon ride. So, Saturday is the day I choose for this first attempt at getting together. I have come up with something to familiarize you with just a taste of the great riding in Tuscarawas, Holmes and Coshocton counties. Local and state roads. Somewhere around 130 miles + or -

When: July 8, with rain dates of the 15th or 22nd

Where: Meet at Adventure Harley (I-77 at New Philadelphia exit) at 10 AM. Leave at 10:30 to allow for stragglers.

Two sets of riders: speed merchants and slow pokes. I'm a slow poke but I'll have route directions for those who want to blast on ahead and meet up with us at the end. I'll lead the slow pokes and whoever is fastest can lead the speedies.

Route:

OH 416 south to Gnadenhutten (I'll show you the church on the way by.)
River Road and OH 258 west to Newcomerstown (my georgous commute route)
US 36 west to Coshocton at Lake Park exit
OH 83 north to Millersburg. Eat at Burger King.
OH 39 east to Sugarcreek
OH 93 south to US 36
US 36 east to OH 751
OH 751 northeast to Stone Creek
OH 21 north to New Philadelphia. Eat at Hog Heaven, 1 block east of I-77 at New Phila exit.
Split for home.

Some of the better long rides are south of this cluster of roads, but going further south makes it hard on folks north of Canton to get home at a reasonable hour.

Leave a message here if you are interested. And email me at home mecscc@localnet.com with contack information (phone numbers, email addresses, etc.)

Open to suggestions for changes, etc. The main thing on this first ride is to get to know one another and set up future gatherings of the clan.

Incidentally, Sue will be coming on the Virago and all riders are welcome.

Thanks,

Monte

Okay I'm going to try it! I'll just make it a four day weekend. I'm off the following Monday so I'll just take that Friday off. We can meander up to New Philadelphia on Friday, go on the ride Saturday and mosey back on Sunday. Then I can rest up on Monday! Sounds good to me! I love these impromptu mini vacations. Now all I have to do is convince the wife. Probably won't be hard except she hates to take leave!

Hey Grump, that is great news! If you would like some ideas of great roads on the mosey up this way, email me. I've ridden just about every road from New Phila south to the river at one time or the other! There are a lot of great ones.

Monte :-D

Sorry you can't make the first date, but understand the necessities of work. I won't pray for rain, but if it happens we'll look forward to having you with us.

Where in central/south are you? Sue and I are going to Chillicothe this Friday thru Sunday and use it as a base camp for riding in/around Hocking Hills, Tar Hollow/ Hillsboro and maybe south to Maysville, KY on the river.

Email me at mecscc@localnet.com if you are anywhere near those places and maybe we can connect for a cuppa.

Monte

PS: follow the July 8 (15, 22) ride in the Rides/Events forum in the future. I don't know how it got here by mistake when it was bumped from the Twins forum.

Hope to meet you soon.

Monte

Hey, Popcorn. That's great. And welcome to the site as well. I didn't get any email yet, so please send me an email to my home: mecscc@localnet.com

Also, I will add your list to the growing list in the Rides/Events forum on this site. This list was moved here by mistake by a moderator and really belongs there. Go there and check out all the details, progress on the planning and list of riders signing up.

CLICK HERE TO GO TO THAT THREAD

You'll get the hang of this site soon enough. There are a lot of forums and hundreds of threads. Sort of like a maze until you work your way about a while.

Glad you plan to join us!

Monte
