All,
Planning to be in the USA next year for a ride and was wondering if anyone could recommend a national roadside assistance/breakdown recovery company.
I have a quote from BrosClub for their minimum 2-year cover, was hoping for a shorter period than that.
Many regards,
John

Hi John - You might try Motorcycle Towing Service. 1-800-234-1353 or 1-800-999-7064. Not sure which is the business line and which is the emergency line, but you'll figure it out. They may not go for less than a year, but they have a couple different plans and are reasonably priced. they've saved my butt twice in the last 15 years.
BTW - where in the states are planning to ride?
Regards,
Mark G

And if you're a RAT member, you get a discount with Motorcycle Towing Service, too. The 800-999-7064 number is the one for business matters, though I don't suppose the toll free numbers can be reached from the UK and I can't find a direct line for them at this time.
One thing to remember with them is that there is a limit to the amount they will cover on a towing charge. If you're awfully far from a dealership, you may have to pay the difference yourself.

You can call the 1-800 number from the UK, the automated system will tell you that the international part of the call is not toll-free.

Well, such wonders in this modern age! You'd almost think we lived in a global economy or something.

Mark,
Thanks for the reply. Found their website - shall ask them for a quote and, as John mentioned, check conditions.
We are riding Route 66 - Chicago to LA. Hopefully with plenty of side trips to pick up the usual tourist traps!
Regards,
John

I've got a vague memory that if you are an AA member, you can get AAA coverage either as a benefit or at least at a discount. (Emphasise the vague).

Chris,
I do not have AA membership - way too expensive, but also because Subaru have their own breakdown/recovery service.
I shall forward your comment to others of the group it they have AA membership.
MTS have forwarded a quote for a months cover - quite good at $25, I thought.
Regards,
John

Hi John - I spend about half my time in LA (living just north of Foothill Blvd in Rancho Cucamonga - old route 66). Any idea when you'll be there? I'll buy you a pint if I'm in town....

Mark,
We should be in LA by the end of April. Hope to meet up with as many Triumph owners on the way.
I am looking forward to visiting Arizona as I am into the natural sights. But, it should be an amazing trip.
Although had problems with the alarm on the T'bird yesterday - not being able to program it. Other than a front fork seal early on, all problems with the bike have been with the alarm. So I took it to the local dealers and had it removed - it was eight years old!
