New River Gorge/Fayetteville, W. VA Sept 2009

I'm looking for any good info on the New River Gorge, W. Va/Fayetteville area. I'm going to be spending a week around the Gorge starting next week and was looking to find some nice twisty/scenic roads around the area. Anybody have a favorite destination/watering hole around that area?

Not sure which way you're coming in but hit up US 60. Go north from Fayetteville on 19 (across the bridge) and head west on 60. Twisty and hilly. I've only done it in a car but it was a great ride. Be sure to stop at Hawks Nest State Park (good lookout) and the Mystery Hole. I wish I could tell you more about the Mystery Hole, but, it's a mystery. Also, if you head east on 60 you'll see signs for Babcock State Park. Not a lot to do there but there is an old Grist mill that is pretty neat.

If you're in to hiking, make sure you do the Long Point trail. Amazing views of the bridge. Go in the morning when the fog is lifting out of the valley. Endless Wall trail was a good hike too but if you have to do one, go for Long Point.

Here are some pictures we took from our trip earlier this year.

Good deal. I'll be sure to check out 60 and if my pops is up to a little hike maybe we'll check out the long point. Now, about this Biscuit World. Where might that be? And can I get some smothered in sausage gravy?

From memory, there is a Tudor's Biscuit World right on US 19 and the road that takes you into Fayetteville proper. Big yellow sign, can't miss it. I'm sure they will smother whatever you like with gravy.

Just don't make the mistake I did... First time there, I saw Biscuit and Gravy on the menu... thinking I'd rather have Biscuits and Gravy.. I ordered two.. man that was a lotta food!
