I ride this area frequently but I decided to stop and take a bunch of pics.

A lot of back roads and gravel. Some cool bridges too.

Looks like the perfect place to ride a Scrambler!

Yup, the sign says Harley. Never a good sign.

The war correspondents arch at Gathland State Park. Interesting design.

A local swimming hole and another bridge.

Check out the swing rope. It was a hot day and I almost went for a dip.

Had to manage a creek crossing at this location. Much fun.

Nice report pjamesb80! Great area to ride. I don't think I'll be wading my T-bird across creeks anytime soon though! I grew up in that part of Maryland (Fear the Turtle!) and know it well. Nice ride!

I'll try and retrace the route on Google maps if I can figure out how to save a route. I will be out of town tomorrow and again on Saturday. So it might be Sunday or early next week before I can get to it.

For the most part I just kind of wangled my way around the back roads between Jefferson, Md., Middletown, Md., and Gapland, Md.

I also went south of Jefferson towards the Potomac river for a while.

The ride was a mix of rural paved roads, and gravel roads. Lots of streams and creeks. Beautiful countryside.

Little by little these old gravel roads are being paved. In another 5 to 10 years I doubt there will be any unpaved roads left in this area.
