Texas Hill Country Ride

Yesterday I had a great ride from Austin to Leakey, Tx - and all points in between. Met up with some coworkers and others in Dripping Springs to head out around 9:00 AM. I was definately the odd man out with A '08 Bonneville Black - Everyone was decked out in giant HDs but guess who was getting the most attention?

It was hot and dry but the scenery in the hill country is beautiful any time of year. We hit Bandera, Utopia, Kerrville, etc. Hit a light rain on the way back which was a nice relief from the heat.

During most of our stops to streach out and cool off - I seemed to get old "what year is that?", "who's riding the Triumph?" - from strangers - I'd say I was the one having the most fun riding the most stripped down version of a motorcycle - no windshield, stereo, GPS, 100 extra lbs of chrome....

Look forward to doing this trip again - hopefully with some Triumph brethren

Very cool - I would love to ride down in that area some time.

Agreed

Coming up in Austin, I used to camp out west of town all the time. Nothing like a road trip though the Texas Hill Country.

Hit me up on PM next time y`all get something like this going, I'd be happy to join up and meet some fellow Triumph riders.

Been in that area once in a cage. A bike would make it a wonderful adventure.

I keep hearing the Texas hill country is beautiful - sounds like a great ride, and a little extra attention on top of that must have been sweet!

Sounds like fun. The Texas hill country is on my "to do" list.

I have 3 bikes; HD, BMW and the Scrambler. The Triumph seems to always draw the crowds... :

I feel you on being the "odd bike out" on a ride. A few weeks ago my old Platoon Sergeant called me up to go on a MDA charity ride North of Lake Travis. He neglected to tell me that it was the HD charity ride and when I showed up at the start not only was I the only Triumph rider there, I think I was the only non HD owner too. However, I was plesently surprised at most of their reactions and got a lot of respect for my S3. I don't mind being the odd bike out on a ride...in fact I prefer it!

Love that kinda trip report; tales of a good ride and more than a few heads turned at the Triumph. Nice!

I grew up in the lake travis area you guys should have seen it before everyone decided it would be good to live out there. I need to get back down there again for a nice long ride.
