Adirondack's by Bonnie

Several weeks ago my wife & I vacationed in the Adirondacks, like we have for years.
This time we trailered the Bonniegirl up with us & rode around inside the park for 5 days.
Great curves, no trucks, very little traffic & spectacular scenery. We rode North up to Saranac Lake one day. Did the High Peaks region another to Tahawus, which is the launching point for the climbs to Mt Marcy & the origin of the Hudson River.
Went from Schroon Lake west to Long Lake on another.
All in all, a wonderful destination for some relaxing, stress free riding. And did I mention the scenery? We cruised,'cause that's what we wanted to do, & there's many interesting stops to make along the way. But you could really rip around up there on one of Triumph's sport bikes. Most of the roads are as smooth as glass & we never saw a trooper all week.
Everywhere we stopped, I sensed hospitality towards motorcyclists. Recently, none other than Fred Rau, of MCN, rated the Adirondacks one of his top ride destinations - world wide.
'nuff said.......

The Adirondacks are fantastic for riding. We spent a couple of days riding in the Adirondacks and western VT before heading to Americade this year. It was absolutely gorgeous.

I had the opportunity to take the S-3 thru the Adirondack Park for a work trip 2 weeks ago ( back to the E-350 this week. Ugh.). I was ripping thru the corners in proper hooligan fashion, loving the fact that lines of cars were dispensed with by a quick turn of the wrist, in contrast with the strategy and planning required to pass even ONE car with the E-350. Unlike Markhp, I had to close calls with the police, one headed off by a truck flashing it's hi-beams to warn of an upcoming speed trap ( THANK you , anonymous truck driver ) and another with a Sheriff patrol in the opposite lane, the sheriff shaking his head and making a "slow down" motion with his hands.
Thank you even more Mr Sheriff.
You didn't give me a ticket, and, just as importantly, gave me a reason to slowwww down and enjoy the ride! It hardly feels like "going to work" when the trip is a few hours on the S-3 thru beautiful scenery, and the destination is a lake front. Even more relaxing if you slow down enough to take it all in.
