Very enjoyable log of the trip. Bump for continued reading later.

Love that last generation of Sprints. They just look so comfy. Though the new generation is nice too. The 2005s just look more sport bike than tourer.

Thank you ... it was a great trip and the write up was fun as well... I agree that the old gen looks like a proper british bike, with curves that remind me of the Jag E-Type. ... now off to your blog.. lol

I got my blog going just so I could remember things that I did or what the weather was like over time. Basically just a diary.

I was supposed to do a 500 miler this weekend to the Bay Area and Wine country but had to get a new rotor put on the Bonneville. The rotor got put on in time but now I am just not psyched up for the trip.

I will just do it next weekend probably and most likely the traffic won't be as bad as this weekend. When I picked up my bike in Reno this afternoon, they had an old Silver Sprint out front for sale. Not as clean as your. Probably 3-4 years older. It kind of has the half fairing. I did not get a chance to look at it as I was in a hurry but maybe tomorrow I'll take a cruise down there and check it out.

Jason~

wow, great report! I finally had a chance last night to sit down and read everything. Great pictures as well! I'm inspired to do some sort of trip...if only for a day or two (pesky kids and wife may prevent me from any longer...for now).

maybe I missed this....but why did you change your plans from around the country to just the east?

thanks for the trip!

Thanks for the compliment.... the trip still glows in my mind as one of the best things I have ever done solely for myself. I wrote it up because, like you, I was inspired by trip reports and wanted to pay it back.

I shortened the trip because of time combined with the stress of making those 600+ miles days. When I got into the Atlanta area, after the third such day, I calculated that of the 12 days left to make the trip I would have had to have made at least 7 600+ mile days to get to the rockies and back. It just wasn't worth killing myself for only 5 days in paradise.

thanks for the note

Jason

Wow.... it was nearly 2 years ago that I determined to go on the trip.

I recently moved and came across this.

Here is A link to the large version

I remember being amazed that my long thought out packing list actually was capable of fitting on the bike. I had started the process with the idea that something was going to need to be jettisoned from the wish list...
