Calgary to Salt Lake City for World Super Bikes

I've posted this on Advrider.com but figured I should post it here also.

A guy I work with and myself are going to hop on the bikes and ride down to Salt Lake City for the World SuperBikes weekend. We both ride Triumph Speed Triples, mine being a 2000, and his a 2009.

We aren't too sure on the route we will take. Probably direct, with as little interstate as possible there since we both work Thursday, and will leave Friday morning. On the way back we have lots of time to take some detours. Suggestions on fun roads would be great.

Since no ride report can really start off without a picture or two, I will throw up a picture of my bike.

More pictures to come.

If you go through Idaho Falls, head east out of town and take 26 past Palisades Reservoir. That puts you on 89 through the western edge of Wyoming. It's pretty good. Once you get near Bear Lake, resist the urge to take in a lot of lakeside scenery. The traffic stinks. So once you get to Ovid, give 36 a try. I've never ridden it, but it goes through mountains, and it's got to be better than the slog down the west side of Bear Lake.

If you have time around Salt Lake City, head east and ride route 150 through Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Great road, through fantastic scenery.

Great looking bike, BTW.

Yep, should be a fun ride. I'm just finishing up packing and getting music ready. Camera is packed so I'll have some pictures next week.
