I have the opportunity to take a road trip cross country and I'm hoping that I can get some input as to some good roads in the following states:

Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorada and finally Utah.

I would like to stay off the main interstate and find those lovely back country roads that only the locals know about :-) Any input, advice, etc would be great :-)

Now, if we told you about all the great roads in the area, we'd ruin it for everyone else!

Seriously, let me know by private message where you think you'll be entering AL and where you'll be leaving the state. Twistier roads are in the northern 1/3 of the state (ditto for GA!).

And don't forget to include Barber's Museum in your routing plans. It's located just off I-20 (take Exit 140), just east of greater Birmingham. Allow 2-5 hours for the visit!

I agree with the last post about the Barber Museum. I'd say at least 4 hours.

Obviously the Dragon's Tail (US129 from Maryville TN , through a little bit of NC then the GA border all on 129 is one of the finest rides in the country. Here's a website for that.

From Blue Ride GA to Suches and on to Dalonaga ga is one of my favorite rides in GA.

Have a great trip.

Utah is beautiful and the terrain is surprisingly diverse. Almost all the national parks are worth visiting. There are state parks and out-of-the-way spots to savor as well. Good luck!

Kansas is pretty uneventful but we do have route 66 runing through it. If its good enough for the Hot Rod power tour it should be alright for riding.

I'm off on a similar journey soon..

pashnit.com for roads in CA as well as links to roads in other areas.

Someone else said once... "slab through the plains States... nothing to see here, move along."

Ark has some interesting roads by the look of things... I'll know more in a few weeks after I've been through....

Skyline drive/Blue Ridge Parkway...

The dragon.. ?? I am going to bypass it on this trip as I won;t be able to get by there on a weekday and weekends are a !!ZOO!!... someone recently dumped oil in the corners there... quite sad, but the notoriety of the Dragon seems to be leading to its demise.

Colorado has some awesome roads, once you get to the mountains just about any road looks good on a map, but you'll find links to great rides out there easily...

Mesa Verde/Zion NP/Bryce Canyon/Grand Canyon/Monument Valley.. the list just goes on forever...

Have a great trip... take pictures and give us a "trip report" when you return.
