What Does Your Dealer Do?

How active is your dealer?

Would your RAT group exist without them?

Who controls how RAT groups function?

What is TOA's modus with RAT groups here in the USA?

I ask, because our dealer is pretty much non-active in the RAT concept, but then maybe that is the way it is everywhere??

I live between three dealers and none of them do a whole lot - that is why I started my own club , I set up a yahoo-group site and made up some cards [which the dealers did chip in for.]

I guess "technically" we're not a real RAT club, but we get together every month and in many ways its more fun than my Bmw Club [even if a few Bmw riders join us on our rides].
We're on our second year - I guess if your dealer doesn't want to do something...

you should. Good luck.

Our dealer attends almost every RAT meeting, and as many rides as possible. It is his excuse to get out of the dealership once in a while...

He has contributed door prizes, thrown parties for us, and gives us purchase discounts.

Our dealer goes out of his way to support us. We have a very active group. Joe attends every meeting and pays for the pizza for everyone at our monthly meetings. He and I both supply give aways for our group. And Dec 8th we will be having our Christmas party with gifts and awards to be given away. All I can say is that if you live around the Dayton Ohio area and are not getting involved with Joe's RAT Pack, You are missing out.... Everyone is welcome. Our Pack's website is www.BritRider.com I keep our info on the main page as up to date as I can and we have a message board for everyone.
Thanks, Rick

We have a very active RAT Pack, and I confess to bias because I am paid to be the Leader (Triumph's term - I prefer Head Cheese) as a part of my job. We have two or three rides a month, a lengthy e-mailed newsletter (partly written by members), weekly e-mails, etc. Of course this is a thinly disguised marketing effort, but 99% of the folks seem to realize that as obvious, and nobody seems to mind. One guy did, but he also objected to the "18 - 22 year old bimbos in tight t-shirts" at the reception desk and cafe so I chose not place a high value on his comments. As the young lady in our Cafe told me today - "Hey - I'm 23!"

If you would like to receive a copy of our newsletter to "steal" ideas from, send me an e-mail to fanatic@cyclebarn.com and I will return one to you.

It is interesting to me that of our many clubs (5 of them) the percentage of bikes that show up for the rides ranges from 20 - 70% Triumph, and the worse the weather is the higher that percentage will be!

Ride safe, ride fast, and ride often!
