Tragedy on Triumph Demo Ride -MidOhio

An 81 year old man died Sunday while on a Triumph Speedmaster on a Demo Ride at Mid-Ohio. Triumph stopped all futher rides. I demo-ed a Speed Triple and I can say the Triumph people ran a very professional and safe ride.
Here are 2 write-ups about it.

from the Mansfield News Journal:

LEXINGTON -- An 81-year-old Wisconsin man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding overturned Sunday afternoon near Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
It's the fourth fatal accident involving a motorcycle rider in Richland County in 2007.
Clement C. Hahn of Hartford was participating in a demo ride sponsored by Triumph Motorcycles (America) when the cycle overturned around 12:30 p.m. on Marion Avenue Road just outside Lexington.
He was riding south when the motorcycle left the road, striking a culvert pipe.

Hahn wore a helmet, but it was not fastened and came off on impact.
The Mansfield post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating.

from WMFD TV:
Investigators from the Mansfield post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are looking into another fatal motorcycle accident that happend around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. A driver of a 2007 Triumph motorcycle, Clement C. Hahn, 81, of Hartford, WI, was riding south down Marion Ave Road, just outside of Lexington, when he traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert pipe, which overturned his bike. Hahn was was participating in a demo ride sponsored by Triumph Motorcycles when he crashed. According to Sgt. Toby Smith of the Mansfield State Highway Patrol, this is the fourth fatal motorcycle accident this year in Richland County. He says next weekend, the patrol will be out in full force along with the Mansfield Police Dept., a patrol motorcycle group from Columbus and the patrol's aviation department in an effort to prevent more accidents during another motorcycle show week. Smith also said the bike was brand new and doesn't believe the accident occurred because of mechanical reasons and does not think speed was a factor. The accident is still under investigation.

Wow. Holy Crap. Lawsuits to follow

Am I getting this right? This was a triumph sponsored ride and someone let an 81 year-old man get on a bike with an unfastened helmet and head off down the road. Someone's getting served for sure.
