Ok. Talked to several riders at Nelson (including MATT, the King RAT) and would like to put together a Pac in western MT. will put out the feelers for who would be interested and a Pac name, then approach the local dealer on sponsorship. Thoughts? thanks.

Hey Brandman, Several of us have discussed this with the local dealer and they do not want to sponsor an official pack as the insurance costs are high. Not sure of the real costs but it would take a concerted effort and organization by some dedicated person(s) to get Montanans together even once a month. They are willing to have an unofficial group altho not sure where that would get us few and often far between riders. Call me or stop by sometime. JA

Anteater,
I think it might be worth while to bring Triumph Matt into the mix. if the local dealer doesn't want to do it, guess we can do something informally or maybe get the dealership from Mike and sell Triumphs on our own.

Hey Joe,
I'd be willing to join in. Something " unofficial " would be good too. We just need a few organized rides. Isn't there one coming up at the end of the month? If anyone has any info on it, let me know. It's time to hit the highway again. We need something going in the Northwest area and I need to get away for a weekend on the scooter. Nelson seems awhile ago now. Getting bored with yard work

Butchman,
i will see what we can pull together on this end "unofficially" if necessary.
as to this month, i am trying to get details on the Seattle/Cycle Barn ride to WA/ID. the tentative plan is to meet them at the Lochsa Lodge on Lolo Pass for lunch on 9.16. Then some of them are heading back while the others are coming this way. On that weekend, there is: 1) Rock Creek Testicle Festival 2) The River City Roots Fest (Street Dance, etc) and 3) The last day of Missoula's Hot Summer nights. They are giving away a Victory Motorcylce (you have to be present to win. i could trade it in on a new Triumph  ), so there is a BUNCH of stuff going on. If you and Ken wanted to come down, might be a good weekend for it.

Joe,
If it works out, I plan on riding over to the Lochsa lodge next Saturday. About noon you say? It's about 110 miles to Lolo, then up Hwy 12. Weather might be iffy, but then it's always iffy in September.

Hey Joe,
Ken and I were thinking of coming till we looked at the long range forecast. Doesn't look good. I'm still debating on it. I bought a Triumph Chevron rainsuit and my wife says it'd be a great time to try it out. Sounds like she's trying to get rid of me. That's cool I guess since the last time I went out of town, I found a men's jacket on the bed when I returned. It's a little big for me but the wife swears it's mine :-D Just kidding. I'm still watching the weather. 45 and showers on Saturday doesn't sound good and lower 50's and showers on Sunday. I'll wait and make a more definate decision later in the week. Keep us posted on the meet times. I'm maybe crazy enough to ride as long as there's a cold one at the end of the ride or a hot whiskey even.

At this point, emailing back and forth w/ Dave from the cycle barn for the details. It is about 120 miles from Clarkston to Lolo peak and if they leave there by 9am, they should be on top by about noon. They are currently calling for 2-4 inches of snow about 3500 feet (the pass is at is at about 5000-5100 feet) but you never know about the weather guessers. at this point, unless it is snowing in MSO, i will be on my bike in town and see how things shake out. as i mentioned previously, there are a few events taking place in the valley that if its not snowing here and the pass is not an option, i will still be riding in the rain around town. will plan on having a "final" detail posting here by thursday. until then.

I just went over Lolo on the 1st.It's a hundred miles from Clarkston to Lowell(3 Rivers)which is at the bottom(Idaho side) of the pass. It's a 400+mile trip from Clarkston to the top and back, the forcast for that neck of the woods is looking pretty iffy.Don't know what Daves got in mind for sure. You guys should just skip work Fri and come to the Best Western in Clarkston. There are some kickass roads in the Lewiston-Clarkston area.
