Hi everyone! I haven't been very active on this message board in the past, due to my disappointment with RAT. I have found that there are hardly ever any rides organized, and/or my emails never get answered. I really wanted to go to the last Rat raid, so I tried to register on line........never to hear back from anybody. This wasn't the first time this happened to me. I got so frustrated, thinking that nobody really cares about us Triumph riders, I stopped paying attention to it at all. I also haven't gotten a Torque mag. in about a year, even though I paid my membership.
I am a hardcore, avid rider, who commutes on a daily basis on my Bonneville. I would like to get together with other riders that chose to ride a Triumph! I will keep my eye on the board, and hope things may change with it!
All I want to do is ride!!
:hammer:

Get ahold of Dave Preston at Cycle Barn for Seattle area RAT info.As far as the Raids go,you don't have to pre-register,it's nice if you can,but all you have to do is get a room where the event is happening and show up.You can register there. There is usually a Raid in the N.W.in June, and one in Nelson B.C.every July. The Nelson Raid is a kick in the a$$.The headquarters hotel in Nelson is pre-booked a year ahead, but there are other hotels within walking(crawling) distance. If you make the N.W.Raid,you will meet a pile of folks who will be happy to ride with you the rest of the year.I live in Eastern Washington and have Triumph buddys from the Seattle area I ride with all the time.

Thanks for your reply WildBill. Well, according to the Torque mag, we had to pre-register for the event. I've been to a ride before when they said to pre-reg, and if you didn't, you were SOL!

I know about my local RAT, and know Dave Preston, but have been really disappointed in the amount of organized rides! I hope if more of us show an interest, they might take more of an interest as well! I know that I love to ride, and am ready to go, anytime, anywhere!

All of you Northwest Triumph riders.......no matter what the season........let's hit the pavement! :hammer:

The Olympia group rides the second Saturday of every month year around (a little more in the summer). We meet at the CycleMart between 9:30 and 10 in the morning. When the weather is good we'll usually do 200-300 miles and see some scenery (mountains, ocean, etc) while hitting a twisty or two., This time of the year the rides sometimes get shortened as the rain gear gives up. Come on down Saturday November 12 to see if you can stand us.

Gootch: Woo hoo! That sounds like a blast! I was just in a car accident today (see how dangerous those things are?), so depending on how I feel, I will definitely be there!

Thanks a lot for the invite!

You don't HAVE to preregister for a RAID, but some of them have limited attendance, so if you don't... you might show up and not get a T-Shirt.

Triumph has to plan for how much stuff to make up, meals, etc. - that is the reason for the preregistration "request".

I hope you are doing ok. I'm also questionable for Saturday as I broke my clutch wrist 5 weeks ago today; I'm supposed to take the splint off next Sunday but 6 weeks without riding may have me cheat a day. (3 days after an uneventful rain soaked track day, I slipped on oil in a gas station in Okanagon.)

cafetbird, yea man, I want my t-shirt! :-D
I know putting on a ride is very hard work! Last month my cafe held a ride to raise money for Hurricane Katrina victims. Needless to say, I have about 100 shirts left, and had enough soup left over for 100 people too. Only 24 riders showed up, but we still raised over 1K, so that's cool!

Gootch, jeez, I hope you're doing okay too! That totally sucks! You sound like me, talking about cheating to ride;
back in March I took a very sharp corner, way too fast, and way to much lean angle, and took a spill on the Honda 919, and shattered my knee. Not even a month later, I was on the bike with my brace on. However, I'm suffering for it now. I still have lots of problems with my knee. My surgeon said that one of the screws is backing out, and he will have to remove it.

Guess what happened to me today? You know I just got in a car accident Friday right? Well today I was a passenger in the back seat of a car that was involved in yet another car accident! What are the odds of that one?
I told you I hate cages!

When you say you are disappointed in the number of organized rides - are you referring to Cycle Barn's RAT Pack? I am confused, because we have two rides a month all year, plus other events - which I think is more than pretty much all other RAT Packs.
What were you referring to?

Two rides a month all year?! That is nice! I was going by what the Torque mag had listed, because nobody at Cycle Barn ever emailed with any ride details. That is where I bought my bike, and signed up originally with RAT. I was told that I would be on a mailing list, and would be notified of rides and events. Just very recently, I contacted you about RAT though, and are pleasantly surprised by your efforts in getting me joined up on the clubs there. Thanks a lot Dave! I'm looking forward to my new involvement with RAT! :upthumb:
