The forecast is improving, looking at the hour-by-hour forecase for Sunday morning, it is now 45 @ 7am, 47 @ 9am & 49 @ 10am. Hopefully by the time Sunday rolls around it will be up to 85

The Good, Bad & Ugly

Got back from my first RAT ride about 2pm, got to meet some good people, always enjoy the ride. Today I did 243 miles from home to Bob Evans to the Cape and then back home.

The Good:

The ride was nice, a little too straight for my liken, but still nice. The HOT tea at Bob Evans was wonderful, just holding the cup made my day The park was really nice, never even knew it was there. The people were great. It was nice to ride with some other Triumph owners for once. Other than one that belongs to the PGR, I haven't seen any others out in the wild.

The Bad:

****, it was cold. We got home from the Rodeo at midnight and when I checked the weather last, it was only 64 degrees. So I assumed it wasn't actually going to get too low. I put out my gear before going to bed and when I got up and opened to garage door, it seems rather warm. Maybe next time I should walk around the house to get a better gauge of the true conditions I throw everything on I thought I needed and got going. After 3 miles into my ride I was freezing. I stopped and put on my rain pants and rubber over-gloves which really helped but at 80mph on I4 my hands were still cold. Once I got to Bob Evans, I realized I had the wrong gloves on, my summer vented gloves instead of my winter leather gloves. With the glove liners and rubber over-gloves they were bearable and by the end of the ride I was fine again.

The Ugly:

After leaving the park, we stopped for gas in Titusville. I was maybe a little slow with the 3 pair of gloves and rain pants, but before I knew it everyone was done and waiting on me. I was trying to rush and dropped my Blackberry. As I leaned down to pick it up, I went left the bike went right. I tried to stop it, but once it got to about 45 degrees it was pretty much a loss cause. I picked it right back up and other than a little loss gas, it seemed fine. I started it up and rode home fine, other than a little loss pride. After I got home and checked the oil, waxed the chain and checked it all over, the only damage I have is some minor scratches on the right mirror. With all the plastic on the 675 and the tank which is pretty wide, I was real lucky.

To add to the ugly, when I went to leave for work yesterday, I had a flat tire. I picked up a 4" nail in my rear tire. I'm going to have to take out extra insurance before the next group ride

Daytona Bike Week

I just posted over on the events forum about going to bike week. Thought I would post here too. Does your pack have any plans for Bikeweek? Does anyone camp? If so where?

I will be riding down from Columbia SC on the 5th and I usually stay at the Holiday Travel Park near Flagler. I was wondering if there is a Triumph campout somewhere.

Mountain Motorcycle Retreat April 25-27

Here's a sweet deal for you flat landers! If Triumph isn't going to hold the Smokey Mtns Dragon Raid this year, here's something you might try!

Camp Living Stones is sponsoring a small Motorcycle Rally. April 25-27th.

2 Nights, 3 Days, and Meals for $55.00!

It's at the foot of Starr Mountain surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest. About 15 minutes off the Cherohala Skyway / Deals Gap "Tail of the Dragon" Loop!

Tons of dirt roads inside the National Forest for you Tiger & Scrambler types!

Basic Overview
Camp Living Stones is situated on 70 acres on the side of Starr Mountain in beautiful east Tennessee. We are finishing up construction on the last lodging cabin making a total count four. The Dining Hall and Snack Shack are located between the two girl and two guy cabins with the Library down the road from the guy cabins. Each log building was made by the hands of former campers and staff who poured countless hours of Christ’s love and sweat into every facility!

Cabins, bunks & also couples rooms
Each of the four cabins house 16 campers, 8 on each side. For every 8 campers there are two sinks, two toilets, and two showers located inside the cabins. On each side, we provide four bunk beds and mattresses for your comfort as well as storage shelves between each set of bunk beds. The central room, which separates the two sides, houses our summer counsel ors or adult chaperones during the off season. Our second guy cabin is unique in that it is two story . The top floor houses campers, while the lower floor is provided for attending couples or families. There is a sit ting room at the entrance for leisure time. Bathrooms on either side. Please see diagrams below.

All bike types are welcome; however, be aware that this is a motorcyclist gathering, not a BIKER rally. This is about riding, not standing around drinking beer in a pair of chaps. There will be several lead group rides. Maybe even a fast group!

Post Saturday Ride - March 8th

A note from Debbie & Wayne Mills:

Just a reminder that this Saturday March 8th, we will be having our ride. We'll meet at the Bob Evans in Orange City off Saxon and I-4 West Bound. Breakfeast at 8am ride out at 9am sharp.

Wayne is doing pretty good and this will be his first real ride since his surgery. We want to thank everyone again for all their good wishes.

We still need volunteers to help with future rides.

If anyone has any questions or need directions, please feel free to contact Wayne at 386-789-3941. Hope to see you there.

Debbie & Wayne

Triumph RAT Survey

Good morning all,

The good folks in Hinckley seem interested again in what we think of RAT -- please take a few minutes and let them know what you think -- I was especially amused by the questions about support from the Company and the local dealer....
