Been out with the Flu and then I had training with BMW:

BMW TRAINING & RIDE REPORT

We are having a little party at the shop this Saturday for Rainer. He's moving to Portland. We'll be cooking hot dogs around 11am. Chips and soda too. The new K1200R Sport is here to look at too. Everyone's welcome. I'm catching up today from being out of the office.

Mike

Maybe I'll have to buy a Beemer for my next bike, Mike. Can they replace a blown head gasket in less than two months? If so, that might be reason enough to buy one...

Did I mention I hate Cycle Riders?

Quick ride report -- I just got back from visiting the Triumph demo truck at Destination Daytona.

The day got off to a bad start. My friend rode his FJR1300 over at 9:30am. While I was gearing up, I noticed there was a screw in his rear tire hissing at me. So we limped it over to the nearest shop on the way and got it replaced.

We finally hit I-4 at 11:30. The rain from earlier this week had been pushed out in favor of strong crosswinds that blew us around a lot. The Triple loves to go fast, but its complete lack of wind protection made the hour-long ride more exhausting than it could have been. After 75 miles of punishment, I was relieved to see the billboards with the jolly smiling face of Bruce Rossmeyer telling us to exit.

The demo format consisted of 30-minute group rides led by the Triumph reps every hour. They split the rides into 2 groups - one for the cruisers and one for the sportbikes and Bonnies. It seemed like a lot of the Harley guys were interested in the Rocket III, and they had more Rockets than any other demo bike.

The tent was pretty active but I didn't have any problems getting signed up for the bikes I wanted to try out. I got a run on a Sprint ST and one on the new Tiger. The ride route wasn't bad. Some highway and some backroads (45-65mph for the most part) with thin traffic, but no good twisties to test the limits of traction.

Overall, definitely worth the trip. Get over there if you can before the demo truck vacates. How often do you get the chance to tear it up on a new bike that you don't have to make payments on?

:-D

Hey all - I'm planning on rolling out to Daytona early Saturday morning for the Bike Week St. Augustine pub run.

Anyone else in the Orlando area want to meet up for the ride out there?

Sunday April 15TH Ride

This ride will be a loop South to Yeehaw Junction, a stop at the River Ranch on Hwy 60 for Sunday Brunch, and then returning on the back roads East of Lake Wales and Haines City. The Ride down will be divided into Two groups. The groups will leave 10 minutes apart so we don’t flood the buffet.

Meet at 8:30am

Hess Gas Station
2294 East US 192
(EXIT 244 on Florida Turnpike)
Kissimmee, FL 34744

Ride outs will begin as soon as each group is filled up!

The ride to the Westgate River Ranch is 75 miles. The Sunday Brunch Buffet is $9.95. You can also order off the menu. The place is on the river too.
Link to the Ranch: www.westgateriverranch.com
You’re looking at about a 4 to 5 hour day.

I need a rough count to call into the River Ranch (for seating), so please let me know by Friday, April 13th if you’re coming.

It looks like severe weather is going to ruin our ride in the morning. We'll see what the morning brings and I will try to email everyone and let them know. Mike

Weather is going to be too severe for a ride this morning. The ride is off. Emailing the group from my home computer isn't working. Pete lives around the corner from the gas station and is going to pop over in the car to catch anyone that hasn't seen the tornado warnings.
