Houston RAT Pack

We're starting a new RAT for the Houston area and welcome all Triumph enthusiasts lurking in these parts. I recently moved to Houston from Arkansas and asked to start this new Pack.

Our first meeting and ride will be March 22nd at the British-USA dealership in South Houston at 9am. We'll do a run down to the beach, hop the ferry over to Bolivar, and circle back around to the city - maybe 140 miles or so.

I'm an avid (maybe rabid) rider and want to learn the types of rides everyone is interested in. Plans are for monthly rides except when there's anothe big event or family holiday taking place that month.

Please PM, email, or call with any questions.

PS Even though Lone Rider is my name used here, I do enjoy riding with others.

Hey Bo b, as soon as you have a schedule for the year lets compare notes. The Austin RAT has a mostly populated schedule, and if we have any overlaps we should make a point of meeting up. The New Ulm Rally may be the first thing coming up that works for both groups.

We should also look into a Texas RAID this year.

Sounds good, will do.

I like your RAID idea.
We'll get started next month and then pump things up.

Are the roads on Bolivar passable? I have heard conflicting stories on that.

How about we start a meet and greet as well? A social night at either British USA or maybe someplace more central sounds pretty good. I a hoping to hit the Harvest Classic in Luckenbach again this year. It was a blast last year. I was hoping someone would get something started here.

Howdy sbaker33,

I'm told that the roads from the ferry and back around to Houston are OK.

My thoughts on this first ride/meeting are to have the ride, make plenty of time for everybody to meet and talk, and learn what the new Pack would like to do for future rides...a low pressure deal with some riding offered.

I enjoy group gatherings and want to hear from everyone. When we combine all the different Triumph bikes, I expect quite a diversity. And we'll learn how to handle the rides. If the interest is there, and time allows, I'm a big fan of overnight trips, camping and/or moteling. Many friendships are formed.

One thing we will avoid is any club-like politics. I think the rules Triumph laid out for the RAT Packs are good - get together, ride, and enjoy our bikes...together.

One lady, a Triumph rider, emailed me last week and asked if her SO (hubby/BF) could come along even though he rides a different brand. Yes, he's welcome.

So this first 'ride' is a beginning, and one I'm looking forward to.

Thanks for your interest,
Bob

Sounds like you are the man with the plan.

I would really like to see this take off so let me know if there is anything I can do. I will PM you separately with my contact information. I have a blog (as you can see in my signature) I will post a blurb and a link to the event on the British USA web site.

I asked our website person/guru/whatever to create a ride gallery for our Pack rides, so cameras are encouraged.

No nose-picking or bare breasts pics allowed, but bike drops in a parking lot (probably me), BBQ sauce running down a beard, Triumphs strafing curves, roadkill encountered, pretty landscapes, weird signs and structures, etc are all welcome. The idea is to tell stories with the pics and have fun with it.

We'll kept theese cataloged and linked by-ride.

Also, I'm going to ask for suggestions for decal designs for our Pack. Maybe even T's if there's interest. Let's see how it plays out.

Sounds like a great idea, I will not be able to make the first ride as i will be out of town testing another bike for the Texas Mile event the fallowing weekend, but I am extremly interested. Maybe you could set up a group email to keep every body up to date.

Notice

As of late today, I'm no longer working at this dealership and will not be leading any rides for them. Somebody else make pick up the ball and lead this first ride, but I have no way of knowing that at this time.

I would like to personally apologize for any inconveniences I may have caused anyone interested in participating in RAT rides.

Stuff happens, but the brand always lives on.
Thanks for making me feel welcome.
Wishing the best to all riders here!
