furthest travelled

Last month i travelled from my home in Kyle of lochalsh to East anstey in Devon
according to Google thats 626 miles altho my speedo showed more like 650
I then did the same journey in reverse 3 days later ( obviously not literally in reverse)

the journey down was hard, crap weather and motor way made it real hard an i was struggling by Bristol an had to stop for a good rest

Journey back was Fantastic as soon as i hit the bottom of Loch Lomond the sun came out the roads were dry
I had one of the best journies of my life fantastic all the way up the A82 an A87 with not a lot of traffic, dry roads, an sunshine

I had a grin from ear to eear for weeks after

Anyway my question is what the furthes anyone has done in a day?

That's a pretty hard day. What bike was that on?

Did 560 miles this summer (Belgium to Cumbria) in a day on my S3. I would not have wanted to do those sort of miles on the Daytona I sold in px for the S3.

strange? theres just been a similar topic on my local bikers site.
any way back in 1991 i did exmouth to portlethen nr aberdeen (575 miles) twos up on a 125 vespa took 14 and a half hours. had to refuel every hour and a half as they have just over a 1 gallon tank and the speedo and fuel guage wasn't working so i didn't know how much fuel was left in the tank

did it as a favor for my brother. hewas and is still a scooter fan and was working in saudi at the time. unfortunatly the only rally in the country whilst he was home happend to be the furthest away so i said id take him as he hadn't pased his test. the journey down was interesting. Had to get the scoot taxed and tested on the friday morning before we set off at 12 o'clock got stopped by the police 5 miles after we set off as they thought it wasen't taxed then got a puncture near Penrith at about six o'clock so had to get the AA to relay us the rest of the way got to the campsite at 9 the next morning. Journey home was fine except for the tank range and 65mph top speed

Furthest in a day for me was last year when I did Stirling to John O'Groats to Lands End to Warwick in 30 hours Total of 1539mles on 30th June 1st July.

The end to end took 18 hours 20 mins covering a 1009 mile route to pick up an IBA End to End gold.

I rained all the way too, with added fog on Exmore.

The bike was a Harley 1991 Electra Glide Classic. It did 27 mpg over the trip, drove me mad having to fill up so often, averaged 56 mph whilst riding, and didn't miss a beat all the way.

That was the last big ride I did on the Harley, I couldn't handle the fuel consumption and 110 mile range when I pushed it hard, oh and I fancied something that went round corners again.

No matchsticks, but I did have a bit of a nodding off problem a couple of times. The biggest mistake I made was having a proper meal, as this made me go very sleepy very quickly.
