Datatool S4 Software Switches/ Codes or who shot JFK?

This has been asked before but there were no answers way back then (2006). Does anyone know how to access the software switches/ engineer codes on the Triumph alarm i.e. Datatool System 4? The handbook mentions them and the changes that can be made but doesn't provide the actual codes and it seems ridiculous that owners can't access adjustments to alarm sound, nudge sensitivity etc. Having scoured the internet, it seems that we're more likely to find out who shot JFK than find out some motorcycle alarm programming codes! And no, Datatool won't say either, nor will the dealer.

If no-one has the codes, does anyone have any answers to the 'grassy knoll' anomaly? Failing that, how about the Davinci Code?

so far

This is all I've found so far:

http://www.datatool.co.uk/pdfs/s_4_customisation.pdf

It allows you to change the alarm sound. Software switch 3 is the one that allows you to change other features but isn't on the website....the hunt goes on...

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the pm's.

I wonder how the "Freedom Of Information Act" would work for us in this case.

You pay £250 for an alarm you can't adjust without the help of a dealer, therefore incurring even more costs.

Any clever Ratter's out there with any information on the Freedom of Information Act ?? If we ask, do Datatool have to give us the information ??

Regards,
Graeme.

the datatool jig and reel

Graeme, we might be in court for years on that one. We'd be quicker building our own alarm from an old pack of fags (I realise that 'an old pack of fags' means something quite different to you guys in the US. It's 'cigarettes' over here).

I was playing around with the info I sent you this afternoon. It's possible to get into software switch 3 (the one protected by The Official Secrets Act) but it's fumbling in the dark once you're in because we've no idea which combination of buttons and/ or ignition key turns is affecting what. For all I know, you may even have to hand-jive whilst pressing the remote buttons in order to activate certain functions. I managed to change the siren tone (switch 1) to one that I think would attract more attention if activated (option 5 plays the Mr Softie ice cream van theme but I went for option 8: Dean Martin's 'That's Amore' - quite tasteful).

My hope was to be able to change the nudge sensitivity and enable the arm/disarm tone (apparently 'illegal' in the EU - is there anything left that we CAN do legally?) but I ended up with the blind man's buff scenario, having 'experimented' a dozen times with various combinations of buttons (and soft-shoe shuffling to see if that worked). You'd think we were trying to blow up the Houses of Parliament with all this secret codes malarky.

I ended up saying a few anti-moderation words and closed the garage door in disgust. No wonder I drink...

Got this off the R3 Owners site, don't know if it means anything to you ??:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got the DataTool S4 Series Training (Dealer) Manual. This is all it is really good for...
When working on the bike.. Place it on Winter mode by:
-Turn off alarm-Disarm
-Insert key and start bike- Turn ignition on
-Press both keys (Gray and BlacK) at the same time for 10 seconds until you hear a beep
-Turn the ignition off
-Now you are in winter mode
-Next time you start your bike/ Turn the ignition on the alarm will automatically rearm. You will a series of increasing rate beeps. Last about 5 seconds

Want your Arm/ Disarm tones On; When you arm or disarm this feature will allow for a tone and parking lights will flash indicating arming or disarming. EU regulations do not allow this feature to be active so it is shipped off. Check your local area for regulations.
-Get to software switch section
-Select software switch 6 by pressing both buttons of the remote until you hear 6 beeps. Then a triple beep will be heard and the LED will be off.
-Press the Grey button to turn tones On and the LED will change to On. If you want to turn the tones Off, press the Black button of the remote control when switch 6 has been entered and the LED will be Off.
-Once you have made the adjustment press both buttons of the remote to exit switch 6. This returns you to the software switch selection.
-If the arming tones are enabled the system will give an audible tone to coincide with the indicator flashes. If the system is put in the ferry mode a lower tone will be heard as the black button is pressed within 10 seconds of arming via the Grey button to confirm movement sensor deletion.
-If the arm/ disarm tones are enabled it is still possible for the driver to arm. disarm the system silently on a one-off basis by pressing the Black button of the remote just prior to pressing the gray button to arm/ disarm.

Now if that doesn’t fry your brain nothing will!!

If it works, please let me know.

Regards,
Graeme.

JFK really disapeared in 1962 and reapeared in his new identity as Neil Armstrong to fake the moon landings in 1969.He lived for a while with Buddy Holly and Bruce Lee at Michael Jacksons 'Neverland' before spending his twilight years with Elvis as a Karoke bar owner in Shanghai. As for the Datatool 4 that really is a mystery. I keep meaning to set the over ride code but I dread to think what might happen.Bit like putting off root canal work.
