thanks Graeme and Johntog - the petition just started, so it's early days. I agree though, many UK citizens have become terribly complacent in the last decade or two. Perhaps since the miners' strikes...We can but try however...especially for such a noble cause!

All the best

Hi Frank.

I feel your pain, and sympathise

On the odd occasion that I've visited Scotland in recent years, I was struck by the "barn-door" size of motorbike number plates.

Back in the '60's they weren't that big, were they?

Our NSW bike plate is only 180 x 90 mm, reflective yellow, with black letters and numbers... generally three letters and two numbers, but some older bikes, have two letters and three numbers.

I guess that since the UK would have a lot more bikes than NSW, or scheme wouldn't work there.

I'd sign your petition, but suspect they might pick the Ozzie accent!

I don't actually give a monkey's what my number plate looks like - I spend time riding my bike, not gazing lovingly at it's rear end

But I think it's going to be fairly irrelevant what it looks like when the government bring in Spy chips for motorcycle number plates They won't need to be able to read your numberplate - it will transmit all your details anyway.

The government has already begun putting out false statistics about the number of motorcycle riders not paying road tax in order to justify 'chipping' number plates.
