Graeme, I agree with the headbanging. I've been there many times. I think it may be more of a beligerant conformity rather than apathy that keeps some brits stuck in a rut. The petition is a response to a lot of bikers who don't like the legal plate size and end up in a permanent state of vigilance in case they're pulled over with an 'illegal' plate.

On the other side, I've experienced some people who say they don't care what plate size there is, but are then openly hostile - abusive even - to the idea of anyone petitioning for smaller plates. It's very odd. I would've thought that if anyone doesn't want to change then they can just not sign. Simple and stress-free. In the end, if no-one signs it I'm not going to cry.

Thanks Trumpet. I was in Lincolnshire last Sunday. Amazing roads, hundreds of bikers (someone told me 3 out of 10 road users have motorcycles) and apparently you're in one of the driest areas of the UK. Downside seems to be the number of fatalities (as reported on numerous road signs in that area).

Ride safe.

I will join in with this it will probably fall on deaf ears like black visors and the like, but what have we got to loose if you boys want to keep your big plates that is fine but you could still do this for us just to help the cause. The police in different counties seem to have different priorities about plates and sizes, and have you noticed that there are more and more cars going around with altered plates and very loud pipes...what are the police doing about these, where i live ido not see many getting pulled over...Good luck

Great idea!! I think if you get over 250 replies you get a response from the PM (or one of his underlings at least).
Hope you don't mind but posted verbatim on the MCN forum...
