Be careful out there
The wife and I went out on the TBS the weekend (the weather looked so good). We decided on a route from Worcester to Malvern Hills to Upton on Severn and back to Worcester (with lunch out at Upton)
For the riders who know the area our drama started on the piece of road from the Wych Cutting to The Kettle Sings cafe. The bike was fine up to then but that piece of road.... it started with the back end of the bike, it felt like it was loose, instinctivly i slowed down, now in 3rd. Another unknown rider caught us up and stayed about 30 feet back, each bend I went around I could feel the back end moving around underneath us. My mind flashed to a rear tyre slowly deflating, I slowed even more (now in 2nd) gentle on the throttle, the last corner before The Kettle Sings cafe it felt the rear tyre was rolling on the rim. I gently rode the bike to the carpark about 50 yards on ( I couldn't stop on the road as the road was too twisty).
The unknown rider rode by giving me the thumbs up. We got off the TBS expecting to see a rear flat tyre, but nothing. My wife said she felt the rear slide out on the last bend. The road has tyre ruts in, the suface has been spray tarmaced with gravel chips sprinkled in, I think this initially unsettled the bike, and with alpine like trees lining the road caused the damp road surface to be greasy. I think the uknown rider behind me saw what was happening and kept back.
It looked a great day for riding but if I had been riding faster it wouldn't have been.....trust your instincts
Ride safe
