Hibernation?

Are we all hibernating now the autumn is here? Fattening ourselves up ready for the long sleep. Or is anyone going to stafford this weekend?

Nick, hibernation is an option I consider this time every year but the optomist in me says there will still be the odd good day for riding.
I went out yesterdy and it was cold but had a great ride all the same.
I would like to go to Stafford but family commitments get in the way. I'm still looking for a Yamaha YDS2 (1963) UK spec. Ah, the memories...

Dunno about hibernating, but although I live 45 mins from Stafford I've spent my day wazzing around up the peaks having a right old laugh. Lovely weather, if a tad on the nippy side (time to put the summer jacket away for a while), and one of the last good days for a peg-grinder before everything gets all damp and cold for months.

I'll be there next May with a shopping list including a T140 rear light and indicator set, springs and rear shocks, classic tank badges, solid "Bonneville" side panel badges, and Lester 7-spoke alloys. Doubt if I'll find the latter, but Stafford usually has a good selection of stalls and bits spread out on trestle tables so you never know...

Y'know, it won't be long before old Hinckley 790 engines start appearing in the bike breakers and auto-jumble sales at decent second-hand prices. I wonder if they'd fit in a traditional featherbed frame? How cool would a Hinckley Triton be???

Hibernate in autumn? Nope, I ride all year

Rode down from Northumberland to London on Friday. Had a great night in the Ace Cafe. Back to the Ace for breakfast and then on to Wembley stadium to join 2000 other bikes for the MCN/RiderConnect demo against road pricing.

It's my first year with my Bonnie T100. Not sure whether to wrap her up for hibernation or hope for the odd good weather day to go for a spin. I'm a bit concerned as a few of our American friends with Bonnies have commented that they deteriorate badly if subjected to salt on the road. So I am not sure whether to ride through the winter or not. Any thought?

The cash strapped () councils say they will not be able to afford to salt the roads theis year. It's an ill wind...............as they say.

End of Season for Me

Had a good blast yesterday. Superb run up through Creiff to Aberfeldy across to Killin and back down to home.

As the title suggests, mine's getting laid up for winter. Nothing serious, just covered, front wheel off the ground and started occaisionally. I for one cannot be bothered with the extra work involved in salt protection, let alone the constantly slippery conditions.

We don't get congestion here, so the warmth of the car is just fine for these soft bones

barneys - a T100 will go through the winter without problems.

I use mine all year round and last year was keeping it in the street as well. A couple of nuts did rust, but that is about it. After I put ACF50 on them you'd never know they had any rust at all.

My Sprint had more problems coping with the winter than the T100.
