Not wanting to advertise but took my bike for its annual to my local dealer (OK then - in Haslemere), on getting it back not only had they done the usual service but while I was checking the battery later I found they had copperslipped the seat fixing bolts - I had made a mental note to do this as they were a bit stiff. How good it is to find that not only has a dealer done the basics but has given attention to things that your may not have even noticed. Anyone else had that experience recently or the opposite?

I have been warned off my Local Triumph dealer.
I have only used for them for the occasional part, but I did buy a battery from them, which I had to take back because they hadn't filled it. Then I had to wait 30mins for them to fill it.
I guess the warnings could be true.

Other Motorcycle: anything I can get.
my guys seem ok but I have not had to have any major work done yet, they do provide endless hot drinks when I just pop in whilst passing wether I am on the bike or in the truck and Alan the triumph salesman is an absolute diamond always willing to chat and talk bikes.

Been to haslmere motorcycles a few times and they seem like a good bunch. Not had a service done there as I need a courtesy and unfortunately they don't offer one.

Booked in to Carl Rosner on 25 May for my 12K service and hope they live up to their excellent reputation.

Used to use Jack Lilleys for servicing but not anymore. IMHO their service dept has an appalling attitude and poor quality standards. For example, I had the tank off this weekend and noticed that despite them having the bike in their workshop about 6 times, they have never reversed the shock bolt that chaffs on the wiring loom

They are *****....!

No-one in there seems to know anything..Bill does but is never available, they seem intent on employing people without a clue in the parts dept.. Went there for some shims given the wrong sizes...bulbs wrong voltage...O ring for the water pump wrong..

Ashford has only just opened up so I suppose could be excused a little but I fear the same mentalilty....after the wrong advice on parts for carbs and shims...plus no parts fiche for 95 S3 etc etc

But test Ride ?..........no problem Sir (rugs hands together)

To answer the question, What does your dealer do for you? I'd have to say virtualy nuffin! I do most things myself apart from balance injectors and check the shims. Can be bothered messing about with all those fiddly tools!

Apart from that I try to do it myself. That way I know its been done and if it goes pear shaped I've only myself to blame.

And If I have to use a dealer I often use a small independant place down the road where Pete the mechanic lets you help out and drink tea and the last time I needed an MOT they let me do half of it myself!!!! Now that is a dealer!

Have just bought a Sprint 900 and thought I would get it serviced at my local dealer just to check that all was well as its new to me and I'm no mechanic.
Dropped it in yesterday morning early, got a yamaha MT-03 as a courtesey bike (£10) which had both mirrors loose. Got a call later in the morning saying they didnt have all the parts and that I should keep the Yamaha and pop back today after work - fair enough.
Popped back at 4pm today only to find that the service department didnt know what was happening with the bike . 15 mins later they find that it was still awaiting parts but no one had bothered to ring me to let me know.
They did give me a lift home in their van but I am going to have to find my own way back as they wanted the courtesy bike back as I am now away for the weekend and cant get in until next week.
Not what I'd expect from a main dealer to be honest and I'm not sure I would go back......just need to see what the bill is going to be like........

Flitwick Motorcycles have always been good for me.

They do a few extra things like replacing rusted nuts without me noticing & taking spares off new bikes if the parts dept don't have them in stock.
