I'm looking to put a smaller plate on the bike but not sure which size to go for.

Standard Bike is a bl00dy 9"x7" tea tray and the options I'm looking at are either 7x5 or 9x3.

Anyone using either of these sizes and reckon they are big enough? I don't want to take the p1ss too much as = police attention.

Rik,
Go for about 8x6".

Am I right in saying that, all Number plates after this year have to be standard size because the Police are clamping down.
Fixed £60 fine and 3 points...

But there again "lifes a gamble". I'm going for this...

Rik,
I have an 8 x 6 on mine, and up to now never found it to be a problem.

probably 7x 5 would be the smallest I would use to go out on public roads with, in case of poilice attention.

But I have got a 6x4 which looks great but just TOO tiny for me to go out with and not be nervous of getting pulled

Thanks guys,

The consensus to date seems to be 8x6 but that 7x5 on the bonnie certainly doesn't look out of place to me

No comments on the 9x3 option so I guess none of you think it's a good idea!

TRICKS, I don't think I'll be going for a mini plate in front of the rear shock though as I probably won't get to the end of my road without getting a tug

Always fancied putting pre 1973 black and silver plates on my bikes, may get away with it for the Armstrong but not the TBS. Its the £60 and 3 points, I've got enough points for a toolbox from Argus already. Has anyone done it though, if so how did you explain yourself to the lawman?

No points for small plate - only £30 fine.

8x6 should be OK - thats what I am going for on the Thruxton
