What a day!

On my way home from work, the most pathetic thing possible happend, my throttle cable snaps.

Cool, recovery come, pick me and the S4 up, and bring us home.

So knowing the bike is my only transport, I contemplate taking the damaged cable out at 6:30pm. I loosen the throttle, undo the cable connections at the handlebar, and undo the bolts holding the tank.

So there I am fiddling and holding the tank with 1 arm, and it just happens. I lose grip on the tank, it slips and crack.

The little white hose connector snaps off flush with the petrol pump mounting. Needless to say I feel like a fool, mywife is not to impressed, and I can honestly not explain my anguish and disappointment.

So now my problem, please say the little white part can be replaced by me calling Rafferty Newman tomorrow morning? Other than that, a replacement tank/fuelpump unit?

Going to go sit in the lounge, and just sit my head in my hands and be upset and sad now.

Please give me some comforting good news.

Regards,
Steve

ps- I did post this in the main RAT forums, however only struck me afterwards tehre is a UK specific area too, oopsie

Hi SteveJK,

I'm not aquainted with the set up on a S4 but still don't like paying to replace bits. What is the possiblilty of finding a similar diameter pipe, drilling a hole in the pump to take the new pipe and then sealing it off with Araldite?

Could save what would otherwise be a fair increase in Triumph's profits for this year.

Best of luck.

Wychall,

I did think of that, but after what I have just done to the S4 tonight, I am listening to my wife and my bodging/tinkering days are over. Thi is going to be one expensive lesson .

Ferrus however has just posted in my other thread the following link:
http://www.triumphrat.net/modules.ph...49468&forum=19

Will cost some money indeed, I am just hoping they do stock them here in the UK.

Thanks for taking the time to reply,
Steve

Update,

Received the replacement throttle cable and fuel couplings yesterday, was not to dear and cheaper than expected.

All I can say is that I struggled my ass off getting the cable connected engin side. Took me about 45 mins (/shruggs).

All done though, bike starts, and it works! Only remaining issue is the engine warning light staying on. I have so far completed 1 heat cycle, so shall attempt some more today (read somewhere in this forum about disconnecting the tank requiring 3 heat cycles to remove the warning light).

Woo me, woo my tango S4

Regards,
Steve
