The cat & Fiddle is one of my regular haunt as well as MFN among others. The road is a good twisty bendy route but if you go at weekends it is ruined be old crows dawdling about in there cars swerving about admiring the scenery! I dont know of any official start & finnish but my favorite route is...
Chesterfield - Bakewell - Buxton - Cat&fiddle - Macclesfield - accross to Glossop - over the Snake pass - Ladybower - Haversage - back over the tops to Cheserfield. Bloody good route!!
If you are riding anything sporty this route would make the IOM TT lok like a strole in the park. If you ride a tourer or dual sports it is a beautiful scenic route!

Ran it with my wife last Sunday, fairly light traffic considering the time and fine weather. (Stoke - Ashbourne - Bakewell - Haversage - Ladybower - over the Snake pass accross to Glossop - Buxton -Cat&fiddle - Macclesfield - good roads scenic views)

The Cat & Fiddle is ok (if no police, hgv's or caravans) but it doesn't compare to the TT.Plus the TT mountain section has no speed limit so you can go as fast as you dare and it's legal !

I've been up the Cat n Fiddle a few times including once on a Peugeot Speedfight scooter some years back! It's a lovely road with some great scenery but there is often a high police presence at the weekend. The speed limit has been reduced from national speed limit to 50mph on the stretch between Macclesfield and the Derbyshire border. The limit doesn't worry me as i'm not a racer anyway, I just like the ride. Well worth a trip up there but don't go up there expecting to race around like you're on a circuit though...
