Hi Folks,
Just completed a 200 mile ride down the lanes and how my shoulders ache! Is this from fighting the top heavy TBird or just my tense riding style.
Has anyone any views on whether a change of steed ( Bonny or Rocket) could improve things? Don't suggest any clip-on and rearset varieties as I grew out of those many years ago! (Before some of you were born!)
Let's have your views.

Other Motorcycle: anything I can get.
not before i was born mate i am 49, maybe your a bit tense? as on your bike you should be able to do 400 plus a day, try a screen maybe just a small screen brakes up the windflow other than that maybe ride more to get sort of bike fit, course you may do all these things already if you do I dont know :???:

i just bought a Frank Thomas air mesh jacket today - only went out out for milk and it cost me £111.69 - 69p for the milk!!

I've got a T100 with no screen and I noticed a huge difference on the way home with my new jacket
I reckon I present a smaller profile to the wind now and the strain on my arms and shoulders - even at 75 - was much reduced

Cool too

Hi Doodledog,
I WAS on a bike before you were born, but only a push-bike. I have a summer screen fitted so can't blame the wind. I've done 7000 miles since returning to biking 18 months ago so I don't think the other half will agree to too much in the way of extra practice.

Evidently I will just have to try and relax a bit more.

Thanks for your comments (also to Englishbaz - enjoy your jacket on your cornflakes!) :-D

Try gripping the tank with your knees as well - it takes the strain off your shoulders.

A good rule of thumb is if you can flap your arms like a chicken (not too much or you'll fall off lol!) whilst turning slightly then your relaxed - your arms and wrists are not taking all the weight as it's being transfered via your knees on the tank. It's more of a tip for those of us that ride "head down a*** up" riding sports style bikes but you can use the technique on other machines!

Hi I agree with the previous writer. Gripping with your knees does help. The only problem is marking your tank, maybe get some tank pads? My bike is a TBS and I bought a Bagster tank cover and tank bag (off ebay)that clips onto the cover, it expands and with the missus with a small back bag is just big enough for a weekend away  . I leave the tank cover on all the time as it looks good and most of all protects it from my knees and stone chips. One more plus is, with the bag attached,it helps deflect the wind from hitting my chest. Hope this helps.

Phil
