New Trophy
I rode it. Two days ago! 200 miles. Motorway, country roads and towns.
What to say about it??
First off, understand I am not a fan of big tourers. Never had one in 40 yrs of biking. I am more a sports bike sort of guy. At present I ride a 2011 Sprint ST, and (although not at the same time) a 2012 Street Triple. Love them both, especially the Street.
As I am a Rat Pack Leader I get the chance to ride all the Triumph range. I run them in for my local dealer (Triumph Northeast) - it's a tough job but it has to be done!
Anyway, got on it ..... hell it's big!.....and heavy!....and expensive if I drop it.
Took it up the road, 200 yds, roundabout, traffic, slowed to almost a stop, but not quite, turned left... smooth, nice throttle control, where's the weight gone??
Onto the motorway. A1(M) south. Played with the screen. The radio. The cruise control. The heated seats. The heated grips. Left the suspension alone. And the multi function computer. Hey! ...this is nice i thought!
35 miles south and onto the country roads. (Richmond to Hawes - North Yorkshire) Feeling loose, cool! King of the road sort of thing. 60 miles on and I feel like I want to push it. Stop for tea at Hawes. Lots of admiration from fellow bikers. Nice!
On through more country lanes, over to Kirkby Stephen, but it rains. Back off a bit then get to dual carriageway (A66) and start cruising again. It's the bis. Stop at Mark's house at Barnard Castle for a cuppa.
When I get back on the thing...hey..This is what it's made for. I'm sold. Feels like my bike, know what I mean? Back north and hand it over with a big smile.
Go to your local Triumph dealer. Try it. Buy it if you like it, but just have a ride.
It's special! Just like the old 1200 was - so I am told!
