Rural Riders Rally
Hi All
on my way back from the Triumph Nationals at Rotorua I travelled via State Highway 43 )Taumauranui-Stratford). Whilst stopped and taking a photo of the entrance to the Tangarakau Gorge a van pulled up beside with a Speedmaster tethered to the deck inside. This friendly face appeared and as is common with Triumph owners we began!!!!!!!
This conversation ended up with me being invited to my new found friend's (Kerri Turner) farm for a coffee and yarn. Now believe me, this meeting was in the guts of nowhere, no traffic, no people hence the name for the area "Forgotton World".
'Turn off to the right at Tahora Road and look for the Triumph sign at the gate'. This I did, and rode up to Kerri's farm house past a huge barn like structure replete with Waikato Draught and other signs depicting some of our great ales and spirits.
The Triumph sign! Huge and professionally made looked just great and was not to be expected given the whereabouts. Kerri is a Triumph rider of old and in previous years held a rally at Anzac weekend each year at his farm. This year is to be his first for a while.
I am attending along with others from North Canterbury. Going to Picton Wed 23, early ferry on 24th and thence to Tahora. Home on 27th. Any starters? I am sure some of our Brothers from the Wanganui Chapter shall be there, perhaps we will meet them on the way if so organised!
