Although the weather gods well n truly dumped their collective dummies (ie, rain rain, n more rain) on the National Triumph Rally this weekend, nobody could say it wasn't a success.
Well done to all who stuck it out, and were rewarded with a great collection of classics, and Hinkley machines.
Roll on next year.

Hi ScramBoy

I got back this morning to Chch at 4.15am. I decided to get on the 8pm sailing of the ferry as I din't want to hang around Wellington for the night. After the rally I went through to the Waitomo caves and then round the West Coast to New Plymouth then onto the Tuis Brewery just out of Woodville. The weather was pretty good considering what the rally conditions were like. I was pretty disapointed in the coastal views around the West Cape though which were very similar to inland Timaru. I was considering doing the entire East Cape and will do this next time I am up that way.

Great rally. Well organised with especially wonderful folk attending. At present in Grommitville (actually Wallaceville) in the Hutt Valley. Trumphy has done 1700 miles since leaving home (Rangiora) and has not missed a beat. From glorious sunshine to absolutely pouring rain.

Insofar as travel goes, the Forgotten Highway between Taumaranuni and Stratford is the highlight. Especially meeting a Triumph owner and being taken to his farm, in the middle of no where. One day Kerri I will come up for your Anzac Day run, I promise!

Rode around the East Cape and to the lighthouse and then up around the Coromandel. 25kmh corners and 90 degree up and down hills. Two nights at the Rob Roy Pub in Waihi, what an experience!

When I arrive home will post a few photos.

I'm based in Hamilton, and on KB as tri boy.
Nice that summer is sticking around for a bit longer. (awsome scrambler weather).
