Join us on the 27th

We're having a ride up to Maruia Springs on Sunday 27th, and it would be good to see you there. Bring your mates too, we don't mind showing Ducati owners how to go round corners.

Street and Sport RAT run to Maruia Springs 27 January
We're meeting behind Street and Sport on Sunday 27 January at 0900 with the plan to be on the road and making noise by 0930. Lewis Pass is always a good run, so lets see what we can do to those corners.

Usual beer, bbq and bull**** behind the shop afterwards.

Digital Air at Garages

Puncture! Dyers Pass Road outside the Sign of the Takahe. Coasted back down the hill to the Shell Garage where they have one of these digital readout air hoses. Found flat head nail in tyre so thought would pump up and then travel garage to garage out to Rangiora. Connected up fitting to valve on rear tyre, no air! Bugger!!!!!!!!! Went in to ask attendants (two young-ish) girls. Could get no sense our of them. Went back to scooter and played around with hose end, still no air! Rang cobbers and they duly arrived with trailer in tow.

On the way home (took several hours????????????????? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$) explained about the 'no air' from this **** new style gear now being fitted in a lot of service stations. Seems there is a key pad button on the unit which you must press if the tyre is completely flat, i.e absolutely no air in the tyre Hmmmmmmmmmmmm did not notice that button! Pressing this button allows the unit to operate even though it senses no pressure in the tyre. Got curious about this and tripped off down to the local Mobil Garage out here that has one of these units. Sure enough, has a 'flat tyre' button to press and unless pressed, one will get no air out of the unit.

Learn something new most day's.

Double DOH. I tried this with my sons push bike tyre and did exactly like you did Cuba. Went to the next garage and it worked. Now I know the secret.

Treble "doh" I would probably have been caught with that too but I do carry puncture repair kit with me for tubeless tyres.

Sometimes there is none there when I want them because I have given them to other riders who don't bother!

I am hoping to go to Woodstock next weekend too Corky, all going to plan!

If you see a blue 06 Tiger with one or maybe two oldies wobbling around over there, it might be us.

I will keep an eye out for you, probably be hanging about with KiwiBikers if I/we make it. Cheers John.

Tyre Pando's

In both tyres I have (or had) a product called 'Tyre Shield'. This was sold to me by a reputable shop in town that deals a lot with scooter tyres. It is a latex based liquid which according to the blurp on the container "will seal holes made by puncturing objects up to 3mm in diameter made in the tread area of vehicles fitted with tube or tubeless tyres".

Didn't work for me (tubed tyres) this time. Have others used this product with success? I guess it is hard to tell, unless the tyre actually goes flat with the latex in the tyre.
I am not going to put to much faith in it although will place the half bottle I have left in the new ME 880 just fitted. Only obtained 7,500 miles out of the last rear tyre (Conti Milestone).

Given that estimated milage for the North Island trip is in the region of 2,300 miles over a fortnight, how have folk got along with these Pando's? Are they a workable, reliable item for tubed tyres? Is there one brand that can be recommended? With no centre stand, a flat rear tyre is troublesome and nigh on impossible to get out of the swing arm without lifting gear of some sought.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
