Triumph National Rally

in conjunction with the Rally, doing a ten day tour of the North Island. Up the East Coast to Cape Reinga and then down to the Rally via Dargaville etc and then around Mount Egmont to Wellington and across on ferry. Would enjoy some fellow RAT company! Anyone interested?

Hi Lovecuba

I am the area coordinator down here in the Sth Island for the Triumph Owners Motor Cycle Club (TOMCC) Sounds like you should seriously consider joining up to our club. Each year we have 30 plus members attend the Nth Island National rally and many of us do tack on tours which is definitely the case for next years rally in Rotorua. We have quite a few members heading up to the rally on the Thursday and coming back the following weekend after the rally. The beauty of TOMCC is the network of members we have throughout the country and the abundance of homes to stay at and to call on for emergency breakdowns assistance, repairs etc while up North.
Not sure if you realise also that on the 27th of this Month is a combined RAT & TOMCC ride to Mount Cook on the Saturday, staying the night at Burkes Pass on the return leg at a members 10acre property. We will have the club marquee and hangi's, bbq etc going to supply grub to everyone also we will be running a bar.

I am a Member. Came and met you lot under the Waimak Bridge one freezing cold morning not so long ago. The reception, on the whole, was similar to the weather!!!!!!! Being a relative 'Newbie' and answering the call was just not quite enough, don't understand why.

Hi Lovecuba

So on first impressions over probably an hour you have judged the whole club negatively. You should make an effort and come along on the Mount Cook run and get to know the guys better. When I first joined the club I probably felt a bit left out too but after going on a few runs the guys are really great.

Would enjoy a ride to Mount Cook but work calls that weekend. No mention of negativity on my part, just a cold welcome, facts are not often negative. One guy, on the blue Bonneville (America/Speedmaster) was a true gentleman and we 'yarned' Triumphs, he made my 'effort' worthwhile that day.

I ride with a group of real social and outgoing characters called "Rangiora Riders" amongst which are several Triumph owners. Being 54 years of age and having done the family/mortgage thing (30 years without a bike) have time now to get out and about and meet like minded folk and, just love it.

Gaining respect for and getting to know fellow riders, particularly Triumph owners, is my forte! An so it shall continue.

Hi Lovecuba

Sounds like Grant Sellars you were yacking too. I also remember talking to you for a wee while about your bike. I didn't offer you a beer as I didn't have one as it was only a photo shoot by a member and not an organised ride so don't know what more I could have done. You get out of a club what you are prepared to put into it and I find the TOMCC Canterbury chapter a great group of guys and gals. We have over 100 members in the South so plenty of members there to ride with. Are you on the club email list or you given up on us?.

One thing I am not known for is giving up! On email/news letter round and when able too will attend meetings at Headquarters.
In saying that, shift work on a 24/7 can be troublesome.

Yeah I did 15 years of rotational shift work so know how hard it can be. Look forward to possibly catching up in the future. Remember there will be a good contingent of TOMCC members going up to Rotorua so keep in touch with the club as there will definitely be members to ride up with and possibly ticky tour with afterwards.

Lovecuba

Is the national rally you mention the one in Palmy in November?
If so I am heading down on the Friday mid morning from Hamilton (Cambridge). If you want to team up let me know.

NZ Triumph Nat or Provincial rallies

Anyone advise me when & where the NZ Triumph Nat or Provincial rallies are being held.

I'm bring my Bonne T100 over from Melbourne for the Summer and apart from the first 3 rounds of the NZ Road race champs at Ruapuna, Levels & Teretonga and the March Hare Rally will be looking for a few events to attend.

Kind regards
Dave Milligan
