Alberta Poll

Which city would you consider riding to in order to meet with and ride with other RATS?
Frequency doesn't matter.

I voted Red Deer and Calgary in the poll but actually wouldn't be opposed to going to Edmonton and Lethbridge also, just would take a bit more planning. The biggest problem I have with making any rides is that I am out of the country quite a bit and the Rat rides usually seemed to catch me away.

My idea, stolen from the Vstrom riders, is to set up a regular (monthly, bi-weekly?) breakfast meeting, with optional ride afterwards. RATS would be free to "go their own way" or ride with others of their choice. No big group ride, unless everyone said "sure lets all go together."

This would have some advantages.

Logistically, there would be no organization needed. Just meet at a pre-set cafe at a pre-set and regular time.

People could choose to ride by model, by distance and direction, by riding style, with a buddy, or by themselves.

Geting together regularly would mean that you wouldn't have to show up for every ride, just show up on time if you are going.

It would also give a chance to get to know other RATS and share ideas about maintenance, and mods etc.

The poll is to get an indication of how many RATs there are in Alberta, and where they would be willing to ride. Individuals might also want to step up and scope out a regular meeting place.

I would suggest each area meet on a different weekend each month so that a person could ride in Lethbridge one weekend and Red Deer the next for instance.

I voted Edmonton - Red Deer. I to would ride to Calgary and Lethbridge as well depending on my schedule . I am not above riding with anyone or any style and would welcome meeting RATs of all walks of life and swapping ideas etc . I think a non committal type of approach is a great idea due to the different, busy, and crazy lifestyles people tend to have here in little Texas. I will have more time in the months to come .

Anywhere in the area of Red Deer to Lethbridge would work for me, 2-3 hours each way make for a decent ride.

Calgary is closest for me, but Red Deer might work too.

I live in Edmonton but I would ride down to Red Deer on a monthly basis to go for a bite and a ride especially with other Triumphs.

Up, or down the minor roads to Red Deer would just add to the ride, whether you start in Edmonton or Calgary.
