Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with Toronto's new Triumph dealer. Back when I was considering a Ducati, I went in, was generally ignored, received no service at all, and never returned.

Now that they are a Triumph dealer, and only about 3km away I was hoping things would get better... I just called to see if they had brake pads in stock form my 2003 Sprint ST, whoever answered the phone said they didn't know and they would transfer me to service, but instead hung up on me. I call right back, different person answers the phone, says they are transferring me, leaves me on hold for 5 minutes (timed on the clock on the computer) at which point I hang up.

Is it just me or has anyone else received such crappy service/treatment from this place?

While I am not in Ontario or have never dealt with Rev I will say that it was good of them to post and acknowledge your complaints.

I have had terrible Triumph dealership stuff go on in my town BUT the best thing I did was talk to them about it. I ended up buying a second Triumph and have tried to make a relationship with them. Now the parts side still needs work in the end they are trying real hard and I appreciate that so I go back.

Just posed a deposit on a 09 Speed Triple R at Rev. The staff there was nothing but helpful. Seemed to have solid insight in which bike would suit my needs. Very well mannered considering it is conjoined with a Lamborghini dealership (which was also quite a nice bit of eye candy while I looked at bikes). +1 for Rev cycles in my opinion.

Dearlerships T O AREA

I didnt see anyone mention J & R cycle, in Stayner ONT. ( wasaga beach). I think they are ONTS. oldest Triumph dealer. Very knowlegable about all Triumphs. Excellent over the phone. You won;t scare them with your questions. I own a 99 triumph legend, that was bought & serviced by them. I am the second owner. The original owner had everything done by J & R. You could give them a call, if you want. John & Rhonda are their names. phone #705 429 3822. www.jandrcycle.com I hope this helps

I stop at Rev Cycle once and was treaded very well. But yesterday at Sturgess I was talking to a guy who bought Scrambler at Rev, but will not take it back there for service. I to feel lucky to Sturgess as my local bike shop. Even the owner Jamie on several occasions has been willing to spend the time to assist me.

I bought my Bonnie Black from them over a year ago, probably one of the first Triumphs sold. No problems with my first service. Ordering new parts from England takes a while, but I don't believe that is Rev's fault. I also believe Kevin is no longer there.... I will concur that getting them to return your call in a timely manner is a bit frustrating.

All in all they are extremely educated when it comes to the product, and I have never had any problems with being treated with anything other than courtesy and respect.

Really? I wonder what happened there? I see the website is down for Maintenance at the moment....perhaps removing Triumph content? That's an awful shame for Toronto. Come to think of it, it's rather shameful how few dealers in general are left out there. I find it odd that a city that size couldn't support 2 or three Triumph dealerships.

REV Cycle-Poor service for Triumphs

First I want to express the poor service at REV cycle. The parts and service staff at the shop is quite poor. I don't know the older chap's name with the glasses but he has really rethink how he is responding to customer service. Example: Tried to order a part, REV cycle didn't even call back I had to call them then they said they couldn't get the part!. I called Sturgess Cycle, part was ordered!. REV cycle makes me believe that they don't care about Triumph owners and that they are too much interested in selling their high end cars and Ducati's and if thats the case stop advertising as a Triumph dealer period!

Poor Service at Rev Cycles

I don’t trust Rev Cycles.

I concur with the other negative reviews posted so far; even GP Bikes has heard of Rev Cycles’ bad service reputation from other frustrated customers who now choose to go to Ajax.

I see Kevin (manager) has been doing some damage control with his posts and their website now has customer surveys and contact e-mail...but personally, I will never deal with them again after the poor, deceitful and careless ‘service’ I experienced in 2008.

FYI –

I brought my Bonneville in for its 2 year / 20,000 km service. Paul told me upfront it would take 8 hours.

Later he called to say my rear brake pads needed to be changed. I told him they had been done only a few months before – he corrected himself and said he meant the front brake pads.

He said that my bike would be ready a day later than expected because they were waiting for parts, including an air filter; it was, but they didn’t get the brake pads (and apparently the air filter – see below) and Paul told me to book another appointment to have them changed (= more labour cost).

When handing me the invoice, he removed the mechanic’s maintenance checklist at the last moment and said they kept it on file for future servicing reference.

I paid ~$900 without questioning because I had been forewarned; but I later inquired with GP Bikes and Sturgess who both confirmed they normally charge about 4 hours for the 2 yr / 20,000 km service (which includes changing the spark plugs/air filter/brake fluid); I also checked with Triumph headquarters who told me it was up to the dealers to set their service prices, and that the 2nd year servicing could cost more if additional repairs were required, especially the valves – there was no valve work required on my bike, hence they found the $900 to be excessive.

I phoned Rev Cycles. The guy I spoke to said he didn’t know what servicing the other dealerships provide but that Rev Cycles does a “full service”. I told him the other shops also do a “full service” as per Triumph’s scheduled maintenance checklist, and it includes renewing spark plugs/air filter/brake fluid – so why did my invoice not show these parts? He said I probably had a pre-service bill of sales; if so I said “does that mean the final bill should be for more than what I already paid”? He did not respond. I asked again why Rev Cycles would charge double what other dealerships are charging for the same required servicing, and he said that I should expect to pay more for the 2nd year service! I re-stated my concerns via e-mail (there were no e-mail address on their website at the time for sending a quick official letter – I was lucky to find an address online linked to one of their staff).

I eventually spoke with Paul again who told me he had charged me for a Ducati servicing in error. He said they could issue a credit for 4 hours labour to be used towards future servicing (apparently he confused me for a Lamborghini owner), or I could get a refund. At this time I noticed their website said “Correct Pricing” - ha!

I mentioned that Triumph headquarters had said there could be extra cost if there was some valve work done. As if the pricing error had been forgotten, Paul immediately said that they had done some valve work. I reminded him that the valves were not serviced, as he had told me at the time and as per the spec sheet I was given; he then said he was confusing me with someone else! I asked about the air filter and spark plugs: he said I could come back in and he would change the plugs himself.

When I went back to Rev Cycles Paul showed me the maintenance checklist and said there was no need to change the spark plugs because they were in good condition, same with the air filter. The renew air filter was checked, but in fact was not changed, as I was told – I later found out it was quite dusty, and imo could/should have been cleaned (standard maintenance). I asked about non-checked items such as change fuel filter and fork oil, he said nothing. The coolant mixture was not checked off though Paul said it was done. It seems to me the maintenance checklist was done carelessly after the fact – making it uncertain for the client to know what was really done / not done.

I asked for a copy of the maintenance checklist for my records, by pointing at it; he gave me a blank checklist! By now, I started believing he really did not want me to have their used checklist so I didn’t say anything.

Mike inconspicuously pointed out to Paul this other guy who had just entered the room (I suspect it was the manager – Kevin?) and at this moment Paul told me the person who could do the refund was not around. Paul took down my credit card info and away I went (basically, I went back to the shop at Paul’s request for nothing).

I called later and requested a copy of the maintenance checklist – it was eventually faxed to me.

Enough said – talk about shifty and careless!

This high cost of scheduled maintenance is what scares me about buying a modern Triumph. On my 1970 Triumph Tiger 500cc twin I pay $200 to http://www.ton-up-bikes.com/ each Spring for total oil change (forks, engine, transmission, and primary chain case) lubrication of cables and chains and setting tension on chains, cleaning ignition points and resetting ignition timing, new spark plugs and tightening of all bolts and fittings. My bike is so simple that I could do most or all of that myself.

Thanks Rev Cycle for SCRATCHING MY SWING ARM

~No Praise here!

Another negative experience at Rev Cycles motorcycle Service.

On Nov 16, 2009 I took my 2009 STR 675 to Rev Cycles on Bathurst and Front to get the bike ECU scanned for what I thought was heavy Fuel consumption.

They called me on Nov 17, 2009 and told me that I REALLY needed to get new Rear Brake pads for my Nissin Calipers. Later on during the night, I was walking along Rev Cycles with a friend and talking about how my bike was in the shop. I decided to take a little detour to window shop at Rev. about
10:36pm at night I was able to see my bike in the service bay, it looked like it was proped up on some paddock stand (you can see my kickstand hovering in air)

The next day I got a call on Nov 18, 2009 telling me the bike was ready and according to their handheld device, My bike had reported no errors from diagnostic scan.

After Work I headed over to Rev Cycles and talked to Paul about my old Brake pads and compared it to my New Set of Genuine Triumph rear set pads. I also ask about my principle concern, wheather or not the computer had scanned any problems as to why my fuel mileage only give me 150km before refill light comes on. Paul reassured me there was nothing wrong with fuel system.
I took my bike home.

On a Saturday Nov 28, 2009 morning, after about a Week of riding to work, in the rain, around town, I noticed a shiney streak on the right side of my Swing arm. (picture attached) Since I don't own any paddock stands, I know I did not scratch it my self. After finding out Service bay closes on weekends, I had no choice but to bring up issue the next Monday.

Monday comes around, and I call Paul. I mention that my discovery and he quickly responded with "I remember you had bolts instead of spools". Wow, He quickly remembers the bolts but doesn't remember the Scratch before releasing bike to me. He told me "bring bike and I'll take care of it". Great! They want me to bring it in again.

I finally got a chance on Dec 1, 2009 to bring it in, and as soon I got inside I said hello to Paul and he mutely walked right past and proceeded to my bike. Did he think I was scamming them? After spending Thousands of dollars at this place, they treat you with no respect!!!

I showed him the markings and said "that just a scratch" and "it doesn't affect the performance of the bike" True, however how would he like it if I scratched his 12 year old Ducati and said "it doesn't affect the performance of the bike". The reason why I didn't go to an independent garage was because I trusted my OWN DEALER to take care of my problems, NOT create them and downplay their own negligence.

Instead of taking RESPOSIBILITY, Paul started to make up excuses why they scratched the paint off my Swing arm, trying to make me feel guilty and blaming me for their screw-up.

After denying one of two scratches he offered to use touch up paint to cover up damage. I wondered if they could touch it up to look like factory course texture anodized paint job. On the other hand total replacement of the Swing arm cost $1000 CDN alone.

Paul's responses for goof up
1. He said "You didn't have real spools" - True, I had created my "spools" using flared bolts, Screws and Plastic Spacers (Photo to be included), they didn't even have to use my make shift bolts (spool).

2. He said "You had these bolts with no Guards" - My Bolts had guards as per photo, rather Rev's paddock stand were too narrow or someone careless propped up bike. Beside my makeshift bobbins and their incompetent paddock stand, Do you really need prop bike up to change Rear Brake pads????. I understand its value for Oiling and cleaning Chain, however that wasn't preformed.

3. He said "if we were to remove your bolts and put on our spools, we would charge you 15 mins worth of service", ***???? charge me 15 minutes of service or SCRATCH UP MY SWING ARM... Hummmm..

when I asked him about getting Triumph in Georgia to help my fuel mileage concern, he commented on my self upgraded additions "Changing front light bulb and installing your own Motorcycle alarm may void your warrenty" Is this true in Canada? or this just a Dealer Scare tactic?

So far I have not seen much care or genuine concern for customers. I warn all other people who are planning to use Rev Cycles to take photos before dropping off bike.

GP Bikes

I'm disappointed that REV cycle no longer carries Triumph since they are so close to me. The few times I went in I never had a problem though I never did buy anything from them. They were always pleasant and willing to talk bikes.

I ended up buying a 2010 Triumph Thunderbird from GP Bikes and found the service department to be great. Jeff the manager in service was especially helpful. When I had an issue with the bike he was able to squeeze me in right away and took care of it while I waited. Jerry the owner has also been very accomodating and given me some good discounts. Only complaint so far is the backlog in Triumph accessories which is not the fault of GP Bikes.

odd

That's odd that tarbender says the Rev is no longer carrying Triumph's as Triumph Canada website still lists them as a dealer. Also interesting was that one of the managers of Rev a year or so ago came on this thread, acknowledging some short comings at asking for ways to improve. I think he was fired as it seems like the service is still crappy and the owners don't really seem to care what the general opinion of Triumph owners is of their dealership. Too bad, especially for them...

I have been shopping for a new Scrambler and found the list of Canadian dealers from the Triumph website. REV was listed as a dealer and I called them along with the others in Ontario. I ended up ordering a new bike from J&R Cycle in Stayner since they are my closest dealer. They had a green one in stock, but I want a black one so it's been on order for a couple of weeks now. I am glad I did not deal with REV. The guy at GP did call me back and seemed professional.

The pricing quoted by all the dealers where basically the same for a 2010 model bike, no dickering allowed either. Whats refreshing is that new vehicle sales regulations in Ontario means the dealer must reveal shipping and dealer prep costs seperately in the price of the vehicle. Cool.

Customer service, especially after sales service, is extremely important. These interweb forums spread the word like wildfire and the dealers need to know about it.

Wow VonDon ...this is an old thread, caught my eye as GP Bikes was mentioned.
You are right about the staff at GP ,from front cash to sales and parts they all are good to deal with.I had a concern once with my bike (in for service), spoke with the service manager and he did not impress.
Overall I would rate 7/10,would have been 9/10 if not for the service manager.
Enjoy the Triumph :)
