So in regards to Canadian and Us pricing: This dilemma has plagued myself as well in my search for a new scoot. I wanted to support Canadian and my local dealer but at what cost? Which brings me to my question the last thing I was just told after looking for used but now breaking the bank and my marriage I am entertaining the thought of new and I was told that even if I purchased a new Triumph across the border I would not be able to register and insure it in Canada because of some agreement. the sales person told me it was between Triumph Can gov and US gov . Anyone know what this is all about ? Or did I get fed a line of BS?

Sounds like a line to me.
Most of the border dealers have been instructed by Triumph HQ no to sell to Canadians anymore, and Triumph could refuse to honor warrenty issues on bikes that are brought over (although I'm not aware of them doing so, but other manufacturers follow this practice)
Triumph has also instructed all their dealers not to give out the letters of recall clearance which you need to get it registered in Canada, but I have heard that the RIV is now willing to accept other forms of proof for this.
Other than that, there shouldn't be any legitimate reason you can't bring a US bike into Canada.

You got a load of BS

Check this for info on importing (it is a bit dated but should still be valid). The process of importing is fairly straight forward (for a government process) and not that expensive ($200 for RIV plus the cost of actually going to get it and bring it back. Also you don't pay US taxes on bikes for export out of state which includes out of country.
http://bcsportbikes.com/forum/showthread.php?t=85230
The main difference is that RIV has been reported to accept a print out from the manufacturers web page in place of warranty letter. You will still have the problem of finding a dealer in the Us that will sell to you. I have contacted a number of dealers and all said they couldn't sell to Canadians.

As for warranty issues see
http://www.cmgonline.com/content/fea...ing/index.html
Triumph Canada will honor the warranty of bikes purchased in the US.

Thanks for the info guys. I did check into the import process and it is not as complicated as first thought. I am trying to get a real close idea of what it will actually cost when its landed here in canada. Travel shipping etc. I will pay for service and convience just dont know how much. I have at least a 3 hour trip to the nearest Triumph dealer to me anyway.

Good luck getting them to sell to you. Keep in mind that even if you get them to sell to you, you won't get the best deal.

As for cost of import, I had estimated about $650 to $800 if I was to go and pick a bike up (about same distance as you have to travel). You can probably add $500 if you plan on having the bike shipped to you.

Depending on the bike you are looking at you might get a better deal if you buy Canadian. The Speedmaster is $2300 more expensive in Canada but the Bonneville is $1,400 to $1,700. So, you might save $1,000 buying a Speedmaster you will only save $100-$400 buying a Bonneville. It doesn't seem worth all the trouble for the Bonneville, especially if you are able to get the dealer to knock a little off the price or even throw in some upgrades or a helmet.
