I was at a dealer in Hamilton yesterday and noticed a 2008 thruxton, but it had carbs and no bar end mirrors. Now I understand that the carb/EFI issue only affects the Americans at the moment?

The dealer told me the mirrors are not bar end due to some sort of Canadian restricton? Evidently the powers that be deem them unsafe and would rather have you use the stock mirrors and stare at your shoulders all the time instead.

Has anyone else heard of this so called mirror requirement?

Luckily, I managed to walk out of there without buying a bike..! so tempting...

I find it kind of funny that they would tell you that considering they would have no problem selling you the Triumph bar end mirrors at top dollar if you asked for them.

I bought a bike from a Triumph dealer in Hamilton when they had the Triumph brand all sewn up. No room for negotiation with a tinge of smugness. I'm glad there are two more dealers in the Toronto area to break that monopoly. I'm just cheesed that they lowered the cost of the bikes by a grand since the time I bought mine.

I bought a couple of Naps online that I'm itching to install. When will spring get here?

I haven't checked out the dealer in Ajax yet but for parts I usually just ride up to Stayner (J&R Cycle) The scenic value of a ride into Hamilton vs a ride up to Wasaga is pretty much a no brainer, however it's a smaller dealer with less stock laying around.

Wiarton Willie says 5 more weeks. Not sure what our American friend punxsutawney phil predicted. Lets hope we are riding in April!
