2008 Speedmaster gets EFI

The Canadian Speedmaster will be getting EFI but not the US Speedmaster, which is strange since Triumph Canada gets its bikes from the US importer. Probably Triumph's attempt to stem some of the cross border shopping.

What would be nice is for them to lower the prices to a reasonable level like other manufacturers are doing. Harley Davidson has been keeping pace with the Canadian/US exchange (about 10-15% more in Canada, still have to pay Canadian wages, rent and taxes). Honda has just dropped the prices of their 08's, VTX 1300 now selling for $11,499, only $900 more than the Speedmaster. The US price for the VTX 1300 is $9,599 about the same as the Speedmaster after importing.

Just another rant about the high Canadian dollar not being reflected in the price of bikes I know, but I really want to buy a Speedmaster this winter but the VTX is my second choice and Honda is really making the VTX more attractive.

I was at the Inglis Cycle Customer Appreciation Night in London last week and noticed that their pricing had come down a lot. I think their 2007 Speedmasters were under $9000.

That's even better than here in Ottawa where it is still $9200. It is only $8300 in the US, although they get a factory incentive of $1200 in accessories, but close enough that it probably wouldn't be worth the trouble to import. In fact I almost bought one until I saw the EFI was going to be on the 08 models.

I think the EFI Speedmaster also has the redesigned tank that does not look so distinctly like a Triumph. Just another factor to consider.

Ya not to fond of that either but seems to be either the EFI or the Old tank, unless I can buy an old tank and put it on the 08. Not sure if it is possible but would love to try.
