Another one bites the dust!
So here in Toronto, Cycle World has just closed Both locations. That was the last big dealer in town, now we have nothing. After McBride's and Brampton cycle disappearing last summer, What the heck is going on. Insurance costs in ontario (Toronto in particular) can take some of the blame, as well as the manufactureres starting to want their bikes to be in their car dealers (Suzuki and Honda). But you would think that such a large market as this could support at least one big multi-line dealer. Or at least a Triumph dealer

Dearlerless Toronto
What's left? Apart from some small outfits (for which I'm extremely grateful), we have to go well out of the GTA to get service.
This isn't making much sense to me either, a huge market and yet an outfit like Cycle World can't make it??
It makes you wonder if Honda, etc.. aren't pushing these guys out of the way to make room for themselves. This still doesn't explain the fact that GTA hasn't had a Triumph dealer since last fall and now that Cycle World is gone, there's nothing on the horizon.
If Honda is ever succesful in acquiring Harley, the monopoly take-over will be complete.

You've got to be kidding - no Triumph dealer in the GTA? That is just unbelievable! So where is the closet dealer?

No kidding
The closet dealer (and they are small, known as J&R Cycle) as well as the closest, is at Wasaga Beach a long (approx. 160 kms) but very pleasant ride. Next would be Hamilton, not as nice a ride, then London.
If any one of these guys get out of the Triumph business, we're in big trouble.

dealers
I guess we are lucky here in Edmonton. Echo Cycle seems to be doing well with Triumph. There is lots of money here for men to spend on toys, which helps. However, you would think that the GTA would have a huge market.

Is Toronto not the biggest city in Canada? If the biggest market in Canada doesn't have any Triumph dealers, the bigwigs at Triumph North America should clip the nuts of whoever is in charge of Triumph Canada. That's absolutely asinine, businesswise.

I'm personally not a fan of Sturgess, so I stick to Inglis in London. Good people there, and GREAT service.
I've heard horror stories of cycle worlds service as of late, and that's what kills a dealership now a days. With so many non mechanically inclined people getting into riding they rely on service departments, and demand perfection fast !!
Also, with the internet becoming so popular not too many people are willing to buy accessories at dealerships. Test fit things at the dealer, then order them cheaper online. It's our own fault really, or at least a little mine. I order everything I want online anymore and not from the dealers.
