FYI here is an update about the Ottawa Rat Pack
Our first gathering took place on Tuesday evening, April 17th, at the Ottawa Good Time Centre. About a dozen members showed up for the “Meet and Greet” and shared the pop and pizza provided by our Triumph dealer (OGTC). One member even had the courage to show up on his Bonneville. Interesting fact: we had our last snowstorm on Monday April 16th! It was nice to make new acquaintances and share ideas of possible rides and activities with others who are passionate about Triumph.
We have three proposed Official Ottawa RAT Pack ride dates to propose. By “Official” we mean rides that are sanctioned by Triumph. For insurance purposes, we need to confirm the ride dates and planned routes with Triumph 30 days in advance and participants will need to sign waver forms. Those tentative dates are:
1) Saturday June 23rd, 2007
2) Saturday July 21st, 2007
3) Saturday August 25th, 2007.
The reason that Saturday was chosen is because the Ottawa Good Time Centre is open on that weekend day. It would also be our meeting and start-finish location. Furthermore, it is a good showcase for potential Triumph owners. Another reason to convert to Triumph!
Note that these dates are at the present time TENTATIVE and some have proposed Sunday rides as alternate days for those who work on Saturdays. As it was mentioned during the gathering, the success of the Ottawa Rat Pack is dependent of the members' input and participation. It is up to us collectively to make this happen.
So far, suggested rides include and are not limited to: Ottawa to Brockville; a Calabogie run including a possible Ottawa RAT Pack parade lap around the new Motorsports track (
www.calabogiemotorsports.com/) note that this is NOT a track day nor is it a race of any kind; and Ottawa St.-Sauveur run. Also note that the June 23rd ride date coincides with the Niagara RAT Rally (in case some of you may have planned on attending the Niagara event).
In addition to the Official Ottawa RAT Rides, “unofficial” rides can be organized. Nothing is stopping the Ottawa Rat Pack members from organizing a weekly ride if we so desire. Some have suggested meeting for breakfast and rides, while others have proposed weekday evening rides. Everything is possible!
Again, we need to decide about these things as a group and see what best serves us. The Ottawa RAT pack is a new chapter and you need to let us know what you expect out of it.
I strongly recommend that Triumph owners in the Ottawa/Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec region register their coordinates with the Ottawa Goodtime Center in order to receive the official updates. Note that I post most of the same info on this web site usually the same day I send the email update.
Finally we would like to know if anyone would be interested in having an “Ottawa RAT Pack” or “Ottawa Triumph” T-shirts made? Perhaps an official Triumph T-Shirt with an embroidered Ottawa Rat Pack logo or patch on the sleeve (this idea could be a classy option on an official Triumph product)?
