Hi Folks,

I was wondering if anyone had a product to suggest that is great at keeping the Speedmaster black engine black.

I find after riding in the rain, the road grime is very hard to get off, leaving the engine a dark gray not a nice black.

I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Thanks
Myra

To keep the black engine on my S3 clean (which is difficult as it has too many hoses and lines and fins and castings) I use a mop bucket of very hot water (so hot I have to wear yellow rubber gloves) and a few good squirts of that Mr. Clean auto wash. I bought the gun/filter thing from Mr.Clean but I find that the soap is what actually dries to no water spots, not the replaceable hard water filter in the gun. I just use a sponge (pack of 6 is like $3 at Cda Tire) and the hot soapy water and scrub. Make sure that the engine is cool though, else you'll bake the soap onto the black engine--which then requires lots of elbow grease.

I use a product called pro-prep, after cleaning you just spray it on,and let it dry no wiping, you might call it the armor- al of black motorcycle parts, I got it at our local triumph dealer.makes my Black rs engine look brand new.

Tire dressing. You know, that***** you spray on the tires to make them look shiney and new? Spray it on and leave it.

My fingers are crossed for some more warm weather before having to put the little snip away for the winter.

I use good old Lemon Pledge. Works on engine, helmet visor, all the black plastic bits etc.
Seems to repel dirt and water for a while too.
