I just purchased a new Speedmaster from Sturgis in Hamilton. Nothing but good things to report on their sales and service staff. I don't imagine Toronto area will be without a Triumph dealer for long.... I'd say McBride will be reborn as McBride II the day after receivership is finalized.

Interesting thought...restaurants reinvent themselves that way all the time. If that were to happen, a more accessible location outside of the Dundas West combat zone would be nice! Otherwise, I guess we wait to see if a suburban dealership picks up the line.

I didn't get there till Wednesday morning and all the oil and filters were gone.
But I did get a $600 leather jacket for $210 so it wasn't a wasted trip.

Newmarket would be awesome! I work in Newmarket, live in Aurora.

Did not get a chance to make it to the sale at McBride. Was up in Wasaga Beach for a service at J&R and to get my Helibars installed. Thought about going next weekend, but is there likely anything decent left...how is the overall stock looking?

Well, almost a week has gone by since I was there so I can't really say. There was a little of everything. Not much selection of anything. (if that makes any sense) They may have the thing you want, but not in your size. But they seemed to have lots of smaller sizes. If I could wear a 42-46, I could have had pick of the litter.
May be a good excuse for a ride on the weekend, but I wouldn't go in with too high of hopes at this point.

I was in there yesterday, and they have stopped selling anything from the parts area, so no more OEM parts for sale. As the above post mentions a lot of the accesories remaining are only in odd sizes.

Apparently even though they say everything is out on the floor, there are still items that they are finding in the back. However the liquidators are not considering how old something is when pricing it. They are just taking 40% off of the (already high) retail price. So alot of this stuff is really no deal because of it's age. You would find better deals at a show.

I won't be going back.

Thanks for the perspective. I think I'll wait for the shows this fall/winter and use the long weekend for a good ride instead. I'm all for a good deal, but I don't like the idea of "picking the bones" or sorting through "odds and ends".

Hindsight is an interesting thing. I was in there the third weekend of August and noticed that the helmet selection was getting thin. There was not a Suomy to be found (having been thinking about getting one), and the variety of helmets was not what I saw typically. To boot, the staff recommended I order Helibars myself over the 'net rather than through them...they said it would be cheaper (probably right)...but maybe the writing was already on the wall for them.

It was.
I was at a rally in London the third weekend in August when I first found out. The bike shop out there already knew about it. I think the word spread accross the dealers pretty quick.

As an owner of a new Triumph I was very disappointed when the arrogant sales department at McBride's went under. After checking with Sturgess in Hamilton , the owner assured me that the Triumph Canada president told him a new dealer would be selected soon...but it will take a while. The GTA will get a new Triumph dealer so we will not be forced to travel half way across the province to get service or parts. In the mean time Sturgess has consistently supported me with very considerate customer service.
