What is so hard to understand?

That has nothing to do with copyright, what you are talking about is trademark, and perhaps you are correct in pointing that out but if you want to play the cease and desist game, at least get the terms correct.

Who needs a club?

If anyone in Calgary - or area - wants a "165km/h" philosophy ride I'm game.

NB, my buddy sometimes rides his Harley and sometimes rides his Daytona, and I sometimes ride my Sprint instead of my Bonnie, but we always hit the ton (just kidding officer!)

I would like to share thoughts and ideas (and even meat and beer) with other Alberta Bonnie/Thruxton owners though.

What direction are you going and when? It is supposed to drop below zero all weekend here in Edmonton. I would love to meet some fellow riders in Red Deer and head towards Rocky Mtn House or something when it gets a bit warmer.

I'm not into any club that shares "meat"... ha ha.

Not that I'm a fan of rules, and I'm not too concerned over the legalities of infringing on the trademark "ton up club" because it would not be worth their while to pursue any litigation (I am currently in the middle of an patent violation issue with my company's product and some douchebag "liquidation world" importer who had my product knocked off in china -- it is a hassle despite the fact that the issue is clear cut and an actual product rather than an internet club). I think that we should start something--Paul from Echo has even expressed interest in supporting it when I discussed this with him a year or so ago. There are some legalities involved though (even in a loosely organized club). In the nature of my business I am sometimes in contact with various regulatory bodies in the power-sports industry...according to the MMIC (Motorcycle Moped Industry Council of Canada) every club needs to carry an insurance policy. If I, Felix, are named as one of the executives/council of a club (president, treasurer, secretary, etc) and someone is injured/dies during an organized ride their family can sue all me (shared liablility with the other executives/council members) since it is not a limited corporation. This is why I haven't further pursued this issue.

That being said, we could still easily meet for rides as just a group of guys (maybe some girls if we're lucky--except for Haggis whom is obviously looking for meat...ha ha). Currently I have to replace my battery (didn't use a battery tender over the winter) and do some mods this weekend (Rizoma oversize bars, new risers, heated grips and vest, stompgrips, Rizoma brake fluid resevoir, CRG mirrors, oil change, coolant swap-prolly for Ice Coolant, hardwire rx65, remove headlight buckets for powdercoat, and since I work at an aluminum fab shop I've got plans for a flip-up licence plate) but after this weekend I should be good to go. pm me or leiter_felix@hotmail.com

I run up hwy 22 to rocky mtn house and then west on hwy 11 to sask crossing fairly often for a sunday ride...nice trip.

What about waivers?

Presumably Felix isn't a meat lover....

However, I love my meat too much to share with others!

That being out of the way....

It would be great to hook up for some rides west of Red Deer - after this weekend of course since we're going to have more snow!

I believe that a waiver works as long as it is drafted in the appropriate legalese... I know that as a Beaver Leader we have to get all the parents to fill out appropriate waivers when we take the kids on outings.

In my opinion we would need a reasonable amount of people interested in order to bother with all of this organization...otherwise we'll just be 3 or 4 guys with matching patches sewn on our jackets...
