Where are you at Donsebasto? I have brought five Triumphs in from the US in the last few years, the last one just after New Years. It is a piece of cake if you do your paperwork correctly.
I come through Sweetgrass MT, you need to send them copies of a transferred title, bill of sale and filled out worksheet at least 3 business days before crossing. Have the originals with you at the crossing and know when you faxed the copies. Go to US customs, get the title stamped, go to Canadian customs, tell the officer at the window what you're doing and give him an exact price (including shipping) go inside. You will fill out form 1 there and they will check the compliance sticker on the bike. Pay the GST and you are away. It normally takes me about 45 minutes at the border.
A few things to watch for, make sure the compliance sticker is intact. If it is gone or unreadable a US dealer can request a replacement but it will take some time. Make sure there are no recalls, go to the technical section on the Triumph US website and put the number in the recall check page, if it comes up clean, save the page as you will need to send a copy to RIV. Canada customs seems to accept a dealer bill of sale for purchase price ok but they might ask for supporting proof if it is a private sale.Keep a copy of the ad with price or copy of a cheque or money order you use to pay.
<riv.ca> and <ucanimport.com> have pretty well all the information you need on the paperwork.
I estimate it costs me from $1000-1500 to bring a bike up. RIV charges $204.75, provincial inspection is $180, GST 5% of purchase AND shipping and shipping which for me has been about $600. What I have done the last few times is get the bike shipped to Shelby MT and go pick it up there.
