Any comments regarding the service departments at either Blackfoot or Echo?

Our dealer in Regina shut down and I am due for my 10k service.

Blackfoot is very accomodating (from a schedule point of view). But they are expensive.

$200 bucks for the first service. Yeah, I'd say they were a little steep. :wow:

I ended up taking my bike to Echo in Edmonton. It was a bit closer and easier for me to make the trip.

They did a good job and were very accomodating considering that I purchased the bike from another dealer.

Why go out of province? There's lots of competent motorcycle mechanics in Saskatoon and Regina.

The simplicity of the Bonneville means that just about any competent mechanic can work on it.

Good luck!

P.S. By the way, it's going to cost about $500 to crate and ship both ways. That said, the whole issue of which dealer charges less for sevice becomes moot. Unless of course you are planning a road trip to Calgary or Edmonton....

Perhaps I am being a wee bit too careful but since the bike is still under warranty I thought it was best to have the scheduled maintenance done by a dealer.

Ended up riding to Edmonton, and was able to check out the exhibit at the Reynolds museum on the way so not a total loss.

Once my warranty is up will probably start getting the major items done in Saskatoon. The rest I can do myself.

Hi there, I live in Saskatoon, and been considering buying a Triumph, either a Speedmaster or an America. Anyway, I came across your post enquiring about warranty service for your bike, and that you went to Edmonton for the service. Are you still under warranty? If not, who do you get to do your service here in Saskatoon? Hebb's? How would you rate the local shop for service? Have you had any major problems with your bike?
I've alway loved Triumphs, always will. Too bad there is no delership here.
Thanks

I have not got around to finding someone in Saskatoon to work on the bike. From what I have heard the guy that runs Year Round leisure Vehicle Service is a pretty good tech.

I got my 20k service done at Echo this summer on my way to tour the Rockies with a couple of friends. After all, Edmonton is only 4.5 hours from Saskatoon. There are a few Triumphs in Saskatoon so perhaps if others are on the forum they can add their two cents.

From what I have seen the Speedmaster and the America are nice bikes. One thing you have to get used to is answering the question - Nice bike "what year is it?" followed by the response "really! when did they start making them again? - I had a Bonneville in 197_ great bike.".

Enjoy.

Start telling people that it IS a 197X bike that you bought off an old farm widow in Prince Albert for $300. It was kept under a canvas tarp for 30 years and only had 500mi on the clock. All you did was change the oil and she fired right up...
